Job Summary
Tryfacta is seeking a Certified Sterile Processing Technician for our client in Bakersfield, CA 93301. This is a 13-week contract assignment.
Position Title: Certified Sterile Processing Technician
Location: Bakersfield, CA 93301
Duration: 13 weeks (Possible extension)
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 11:00 AM-7:30 PM
Pay rate: $35.00 - $42.00 /hr.
Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:
- Decontaminate, clean, inspect, assemble, sterilize, and distribute surgical instruments and medical equipment.
- Compile instrument sets, count instruments, and maintain accurate processing records.
- Operate steam sterilizers and other sterilization equipment using appropriate exposure and drying parameters.
- Prepare instruments for immediate-use sterilization when required.
- Perform biological and diagnostic testing on sterilization equipment and maintain related logs.
- Evaluate instruments for cleanliness, function, and safety prior to redistribution.
- Assist with operating room turnover, terminal cleaning activities, and sterile supply support as needed.
- Assist with picking supplies and instruments for upcoming surgical cases.
- Process instruments for ancillary departments, including Emergency Room, Respiratory Therapy, Physical Therapy, and Radiology.
- Identify and evaluate loaner instruments prior to processing and maintain tracking documentation.
- Maintain biological incubators and related testing logs.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant sterile processing environment.
- Provide technical support to the operating room, recovery, outpatient endoscopy, and central sterile areas as assigned.
- Follow infection prevention, patient safety, and regulatory standards.
- Perform other sterile processing duties as assigned under perioperative leadership.

- High School Diploma/GED or equivalent required.
- Associate's/Technical Degree or equivalent education/experience preferred.
- Sterile Processing Technician certification required.
- Recent hospital/acute-care sterile processing experience preferred.
- Experience with decontamination, instrument inspection, tray assembly, sterilization, biological monitoring, and OR support.
- Experience processing instruments for Orthopedic, Neurological, and General surgical cases strongly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of infection prevention, sterilization standards, and instrument reprocessing workflows.
- Ability to maintain accurate processing, sterilization, and quality-control documentation.
- Strong communication, organization, attention to detail, and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced hospital/perioperative environment.
- Experience working in a larger facility with complex surgical cases preferred.
