Job summary

Advocate Aurora Health is seeking a Full-time Sterile Processing Technician for the Lexington Medical Center Sterile Processing Services. The role requires a High School diploma or GED and CSPDT certification, with 40 hours per week and a schedule of 11am-7:30pm including rotating weekend call.

Responsibilities include operating sterilization equipment, preparing instrument sets, maintaining logs, and ensuring the availability of supplies.

Qualifications

• Ability to stand for long periods and work in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to hospital standards and promote teamwork.
• Clean instruments and equipment using proper methods.
• Inspect reusable items for quality and safety.
• Sort and assemble instrument sets.
• Operate autoclaves and sterilizing units to produce sterile products.
• Ensure sterilization supplies and prep solutions are available.
• Perform daily checks on autoclaves and log results.
• Maintain up-to-date technical knowledge.
• Provide age-appropriate care as applicable.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: High School diploma or GED equivalent.

LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, and/or REGISTRATION : Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT).

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :

1. 1. Adheres to the general hospital standards to promote a cooperative work environment by utilizing communication skills, interpersonal relationships and team building.
2. 2. Cleans instruments and equipment using appropriate method and equipment.
3. 3. Ensures the correct inspection of reusable items.
4. 4. Sorting and assembling instruments and/or sets.
5. 5. Operates sterilizing units for production of sterile products to reduce risk of nosocomial infections.
6. 6. Ensures the availability of sterilization supplies and prep solutions.
7. 7. Daily checks autoclaves and Steris Units with biological indicators and air removal test kits as required. Maintains proper logs, records and charts of sterilizers.
8. 8. Maintains technical knowledge.
9. 9. Provides age/developmentally appropriate care as provided in accordance with Age-Specific Care Guidelines for the specific age groups served.

SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS : Ability to operate equipment, such as sterilization equipment, washer sterilizer, ultrasonic cleaner, flash autoclave and high van autoclave Ability to communicate effectively with other medical professionals Knowledge of basic and specialty operating room instrumentation Ability to stand for long periods
