Job summary

RWJBarnabas Health is seeking a Certified Screener in Newark, NJ, within the Emergency Screening department. The role involves ensuring safety, supporting crisis-focused assessments, and collaborating with law enforcement for community outreach.

The position is hourly with day shifts and potential evenings. Qualifications include an MSW/MA or BA/BS with crisis experience; enrollment in a Master’s program with relevant experience is acceptable.

Qualifications

• Required: MSW/MA degree in related field, or BA/BS plus three years of prior experience in a psychiatric setting, one of which is in crisis setting.
• OR enrolled in a Master’s program with two years prior experience in a psychiatric setting, one of which is in a crisis setting.

Responsibilities

• Assures safety in practice by maintaining a realization of their own level of knowledge and experience and communicates with resource persons.
• The Arrive Together Certified Screener will individualize the plan of care to address a patient’s needs.
• Works with law enforcement in identified municipalities and other community agencies to achieve best service to patients.
• Supervises/informs inpatient care issues and follows up on tasks, setting and evaluating priorities.
• Provides mobile outreach with law enforcement.
• Rides as a passenger in a police car through identified municipalities.
• Provides mobile response on foot patrol at Newark Penn Station and downtown Newark locations.
• Shift coverage needed for day and evening hours in the community up until 11pm.

Education

MSW/MA degree in related field

Essential Functions:

• Assures safety in practice by maintaining a realization of their own individual level of knowledge and experience and assumes responsibility for advancing knowledge by communicating with and utilizing resource persons/programs available
• The Arrive Together Certified Screener will individualize the plan of care to address a specific patient s needs
• Works with law enforcement in identified municipalities and other community agencies, to achieve best service possible to patients
• Responsible for supervising and assisting inpatient care issues as well as follow up on assigned tasks and for consistently setting and evaluating priorities
• Provides mobile outreach with law enforcement
• Rides as a passenger in a police car through the identified municipalities
• Also provide mobile response on foot patrol at Newark Penn Station and downtown Newark locations
