Job summary

Horizon Post Acute and Rehabilitation Center in Wichita, KS is seeking a Certified Respiratory Therapist to provide direct respiratory care to residents in a skilled nursing setting. The role emphasizes assessment, treatment planning, and collaboration with the medical team.

Full-time position with a 40-hour schedule; pay range $35-$40 per hour depending on experience. Benefits include medical/dental/vision insurance, PTO, Tapcheck access, ongoing training, and a collaborative work environment.

Qualifications

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Respiratory Therapy from an accredited program.
• Valid state license to practice as a Respiratory Therapist.
• NBRC certification as CRT (Certified Respiratory Therapist).
• Experience in long-term care or nursing home setting preferred.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills; teamwork and independence.

Responsibilities

• Assess residents' respiratory status and review medical history.
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans.
• Administer therapies such as Acapella, IS, EZPAP, CPT.
• Monitor responses and adjust care plans with medical staff.
• Educate residents and families on respiratory health and care options.
• Document assessments, treatments, and progress in medical records.
• Maintain equipment and uphold infection control standards.
• Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and professional development.

Job Summary:

• Conduct thorough assessments of residents’ respiratory status, including reviewing medical history and performing physical examinations.
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on residents’ needs and established protocols.
• Administer respiratory therapies including Acapella, Incentive Spirometry (IS), EZPAP, and Chest Physiotherapy (CPT) to promote optimal lung function and prevent complications.
• Monitor residents’ responses to treatment and adjust care plans as necessary, in collaboration with the medical staff.
• Educate residents and their families about respiratory health, treatment options, and best practices for managing respiratory conditions.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of assessments, treatments, and progress notes in residents’ medical records.
• Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings to discuss resident care and contribute to overall care strategies.
• Ensure the proper maintenance and cleanliness of respiratory equipment, adhering to infection control protocols.
• Stay current with best practices and advancements in respiratory therapy and participate in ongoing professional development.

Qualifications:

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Respiratory Therapy from an accredited program.
• Valid state license to practice as a Respiratory Therapist.
• Certification by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) as a Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT)
• Previous experience in a long-term care or nursing home setting is highly desirable.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a compassionate approach to patient care.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a healthcare team and independently.
• Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) and documentation standards.
