Job summary

Texas Children’s Pavilion for Women seeks an Obstetric Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist to provide high-quality anesthesia care for adult and pediatric patients in a fast-paced perioperative setting.

Collaborate with anesthesiologists and surgeons to assess patients, craft anesthesia plans, monitor responses, and ensure safe outcomes throughout perioperative care, in compliance with Texas laws and hospital protocols.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing is required.
  • Graduation from an accredited Nurse Anesthesia program is required.
  • APRN-CRNA license from the Texas Board of Nursing is required.

Responsibilities

  • Administers general, regional, and MAC anesthesia for adult and pediatric patients under supervision.
  • Performs pre-anesthesia assessments including history and risk evaluations.
  • Develops and implements individualized anesthesia care plans in collaboration with anesthesiologists.
  • Manages induction, maintenance, and emergence phases of anesthesia.
  • Monitors patients during procedures and responds to physiological changes.
  • Provides post-anesthesia care and evaluates recovery.
  • Adjusts anesthesia techniques based on age-specific considerations.
  • Works under physician supervision or medical direction as required by Texas law.
  • Collaborates with surgeons, anesthesiologists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Adheres to state, federal, and facility regulations including Texas BON and Texas Medical Board standards.
  • Follows patient safety, infection control, and risk management protocols.
  • Participates in quality improvement and peer review processes.
  • Maintains readiness for emergency interventions including airway management and resuscitation.
  • Promotes patient safety, transparency, and continuous improvement.

Skills & Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing required
  • Graduation from an accredited Nurse Anesthesia program required
  • Registered Nurse (RN) license from the Texas Board of Nursing or through the Nurse Licensure Compact required
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association required
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification from the American Heart Association required
  • Advanced Practice Registered Nurse, Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (APRN-CRNA) license from the Texas Board of Nursing required
