Job summary

Implements Occupational Therapy services/treatments for patients under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist in an effort to restore function and prevent disability following injury, disease, or physical disability.**Roles and Responsibilities:****ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:*** Observes patients before, during and after therapy, noting status and reporting it to the occupational therapist or clinical supervisor. Helps patients do therapeutic activities, such as stretches and other exercises.* May lead children who have developmental disabilities in play activities that promote coordination and socialization.* Assists occupational therapists in providing therapy to patients.* Encourages patients to complete activities and tasks.* Teaches clients how to use special equipment, which may be needed for daily living activities and to use devices that make daily living activities easier.* Documents timely, accurate and appropriate clinical information in medical record and systems, as required by practice or organizational policy.* Collaborates with other staff in working with the population of the facility to treat, rehabilitate and return patients to the community.* Communicates clearly and effectively to patients, their family members, guests and other members of the health care team.* Assists in ordering and maintaining the Occupational Therapy supplies/equipment.
