Job summary

Trinity Services, Inc. is seeking a Recovery Support Specialist to provide non-clinical, supportive services in the Living Room. The role emphasizes crisis support, community resource connections, and collaboration with clinicians to help guests manage crises in a safe environment.

Qualifications

  • Lived experience as a consumer of mental health and/or substance use disorder services.
  • High school diploma or GED; additional education is a plus.
  • Certified Recovery Support Specialist (CRSS) certification.
  • WRAP certification or willingness to complete WRAP training.
  • Valid driver’s license with auto liability insurance, including uninsured motorist coverage.
  • Ability to complete pre-employment background checks.
  • Experience with individuals with developmental disabilities is a plus.
  • Teaching or peer support group facilitation experience is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Support guests experiencing mental health crises and connect them with community resources.
  • Collaborate with clinicians to ensure guests complete necessary assessments.
  • Assist in developing events and system improvements with Trinity staff.
  • Communicate professionally with guests, staff, and external entities.
  • Work evenings and some weekends to keep Living Room accessible seven days a week.
  • Report injuries or needs to Living Room Director; escalate medical concerns as needed.

Job description

POSITION OVERVIEW Under the direction and immediate supervision of the Living Room Program Coordinator, the Recovery Support Specialist delivers supportive services to guests of the Living Room. The Recovery Support Specialist creates a positive, non-clinical environment that supports guests in managing crises in a comfortable, welcoming environment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Supports guests who are experiencing mental health crises
  • Connects guests with community resources to help prevent future crises
  • Reviews with guests triggers to the current crisis, to help problem solve how to manage similar triggers in the future
  • Collaborates with clinicians to ensure guests complete necessary assessments
  • Completes all trainings necessary to become a Certified Recovery Support Specialist within a year of employment.
  • Works evenings and some weekends to ensure Living Room is accessible seven days a week
  • Participates in staff meetings
  • Communicates with staff, guests, community agencies, and other internal or external entities in a professional and timely manner
  • Works with other Trinity staff members in developing and suggesting events and system improvements, anticipates potential problem areas, and communicates any identified problem areas or concerns to the Living Room Director
  • Reports any injuries or specific needs of guests to Living Room Director
  • Advises the Living Room Director of any immediate or non-immediate medical problems regarding any guests.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Be able to lift over 40 pounds from floor to waist unassisted
  • Be able to push and pull 75 pounds
  • Remain in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods
  • Operate motor vehicles
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to, stand, sit; talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone keyboard reach, stoop kneel to install computer equipment
  • Physical activities that could be used include: driving, balancing, pulling, pushing, standing, climbing, grasping, stooping, crouching, crawling, kneeling, reaching, lifting, and repetitive motion.
Qualifications

Required: Lived experience as a consumer of mental health and/or substance use disorder services.

Required: High school diploma or GED. Additional education is a plus.

Required: Certified Recovery Support Specialist (CRSS) certification.

Required: Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP) certification or willingness to complete WRAP training.

Valid driver's license and current automobile liability insurance, including uninsured motorist coverage.

Ability to successfully complete all required pre-employment background checks.

Prior experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, including adults and/or children, is a plus.

Teaching experience and/or experience facilitating peer support groups is highly desirable.
