Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum 3+ years of public accounting experience.
  • Strong knowledge of federal and state tax regulations.
  • Experience preparing and reviewing individual and business tax returns.
  • Proficiency with accounting, tax, and financial reporting software.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review federal, state, and local tax returns for trusts and estates.
  • Conduct tax research and analyze complex tax issues.
  • Develop tax planning strategies to minimize liabilities and maximize savings.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable tax laws and regulations.
  • Respond to IRS and state tax notices and correspondence.
  • Assist clients with tax audits and examinations as needed.
  • Prepare and review financial statements and supporting schedules.
  • Assist clients with bookkeeping, general ledger maintenance, and account reconciliations.
  • Analyze financial data and provide meaningful recommendations.
  • Support month-end and year-end closing processes.
  • Prepare compiled and reviewed financial statements in accordance with professional standards.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to business owners and individual clients.
  • Provide guidance regarding entity selection, business growth, succession planning, and cash flow management.
  • Identify opportunities to improve financial performance and operational efficiencies.
  • Meet with clients regularly to discuss financial and tax strategies.
  • Maintain compliance with AICPA, Montana Board of Public Accountants, and firm professional standards.
  • Stay current on evolving tax laws, accounting regulations, and industry trends.
  • Mentor and support junior accounting staff.
  • Assist with workflow management and quality control procedures.
  • Participate in business development and community engagement activities.
