Job summary

Wesley Medical Center, part of HCA Healthcare, is seeking a Certified Physical Therapy Assistant PRN to support the Physical Therapy team in patient care, education, and discharge planning.

The role requires assisting the Physical Therapist, documenting care, and coordinating with families and physicians while maintaining productivity and compliance. This position is based in Wichita, KS.

Qualifications

  • Current Physical Therapy Assistant licensure in Kansas.
  • BLS verification as specified by policy.
  • High School Diploma or GED or equivalent.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Physical Therapist in implementing the patient’s treatment plan, education, and documentation.
  • Develop and monitor a written treatment plan with measurable goals and age-appropriate objectives.
  • Communicate with patient, family, physicians, and staff about the patient’s condition and treatment.
  • Support discharge planning for patients continuing rehabilitation elsewhere.
  • Document all patient activities thoroughly and timely per center policies.
  • Supervise PTA students during clinical affiliations and provide education to staff and patients.

Job Summary and Qualifications

As a Certified Physical Therapy Assistant, you assist the Physical Therapist in implementing the patient’s treatment plan, education, dismissal planning and documentation with minimum weekly review and supervision by an Occupational Therapist.

What you should expect to do in this role:
  • Assists the Physical Therapist in implementing the patient’s treatment plan, education, dismissal planning and documentation with minimum weekly review and supervision by a Physical Therapist
  • Implements a written treatment plan based on the interpretation of the assessment to include measurable goals relative to the patient ’s age specific needs and diagnosis
  • Communicates verbally with the patient, family, physicians and other health care staff regarding the nature of the patient’s disability, treatment plan, safety issues and expected outcome of the patient
  • Assists discharge planning for the patient who will be continuing rehabilitation service at another facility
  • Documents all patient related activities in a manner that is thorough, clear, timely and allows for easy retrieval of information and is consistent with medical center policies and procedures
  • Supervises Physical Therapy Assistant students during their clinical affiliations and provide formal and informal education sessions to patients, families, physicians, health care staff, students or any other group requesting information on topics within the scope of practice
  • Monitors compliance with all applicable laws and regulations promulgated by the government or other third parties
  • Assists the organization in incorporating the guiding principles into its education practices and in creating an environment responsive to change
  • Consistently meets established productivity requirements
  • Contacts physicians and office staff to promote Rehab services and Wesley Medical Center
What qualification you will need for this role:
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) verification course, as specified in policy
  • Current Physical Therapy Assistance licensure in the state of Kansas
  • High School Diploma or GED
