Job summary

JobRx, Inc. is seeking a Part‑Time Certified Pharmacy Technician for a hospital setting in Central Texas. The role supports medication preparation, sterile compounding, and pharmacy operations within inpatient, outpatient, and specialty care environments.

Ideal candidates have a Texas Pharmacy Technician Registration, 3–5 years of hospital experience, and IV certification. Roles involve collaboration with licensed pharmacists and exposure to IV room, OR, and ambulatory pharmacy operations.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • 3-5 years of pharmacy technician experience preferred in hospital or clinical setting.
  • Active Texas Pharmacy Technician Registration is required.
  • IV certification (ACPE-accredited or state equivalent) required for hospital-based roles.
  • National Certification (CPhT) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist pharmacists in collecting and verifying patient medication histories
  • Prepare medications and label prescriptions accurately per protocols
  • Compound sterile and non‑sterile products including IVs, chemo, and parenteral nutrition
  • Dispense and track controlled substances according to hospital policies and DEA guidelines
  • Maintain and update patient medication profiles in the pharmacy system
  • Train and support new Pharmacy Technician staff
  • Rotate through specialty units including the OR, IV room, and satellite pharmacies
  • Perform daily pharmacy logs, inventory updates, and compliance audits
  • Enter outpatient prescriptions and coordinate discharge medication services and patient delivery logistics
  • Support cost-effective medication utilization under pharmacist oversight
  • Identify potential medication errors, reactions, or interactions and report promptly
  • Help maintain hospital formulary compliance and safety standards
  • Follow safety and handling procedures for hazardous drugs and IV preparations
  • Comply with infection control protocols and protective equipment use
  • Practice safe lifting and material handling techniques to prevent injury

Position Summary - Pharmacy Technician Role

As a Pharmacy Technician, you will provide non‑judgmental, technical support under the supervision of licensed pharmacists. You'll contribute to the safe and timely delivery of medications across inpatient, outpatient, and specialty care environments—including IV room, OR, and ambulatory pharmacy. This role is essential to supporting patient outcomes and ensuring compliance with pharmacy standards and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities - Certified Pharmacy Technician
Pharmacy Operations
  • Assist pharmacists in collecting and verifying patient medication histories
  • Prepare medications and label prescriptions accurately per protocols
  • Compound sterile and non‑sterile products including IVs, chemo, and parenteral nutrition
  • Dispense and track controlled substances according to hospital policies and DEA guidelines
  • Maintain and update patient medication profiles in the pharmacy system
  • Train and support new Pharmacy Technician staff

Retail & Ambulatory Support Functions
  • Enter outpatient prescriptions and select medications for refill or pick‑up
  • Coordinate discharge medication services and patient delivery logistics
  • Support reconciliation of medications at patient discharge
Clinical & Compliance Support
  • Assist with cost‑effective medication utilization under pharmacist oversight
  • Identify potential medication errors, reactions, or interactions and report promptly
  • Support clinical interventions including renal dose monitoring, anticoagulant support, and therapeutic substitutions
  • Help maintain hospital formulary compliance and safety standards
Workplace Safety & Risk Management
  • Follow all safety and handling procedures for hazardous drugs and IV preparations
  • Comply with infection control protocols and protective equipment use
  • Practice safe lifting and material handling techniques to prevent injury
Qualifications
Education
  • High School Diploma or GED (required)
Experience
  • 3‑5 years of pharmacy technician experience preferred (hospital or clinical setting)
  • Must meet Pharmacy Technician I role requirements
Licensure & Certification
  • Active Texas Pharmacy Technician Registration (required)
  • National Certification (CPhT) preferred
