Genesis Healthcare, Inc. seeks a compassionate Certified Pharmacy Technician or Registered Pharmacy Technician to join our pharmacy team.

Under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist, you will assist with preparation, processing, and dispensing of prescriptions while ensuring accuracy and HIPAA compliance. You will handle patient interactions, inventory management, billing with third-party payers, and maintain records.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.

Responsibilities

• Receive, process, and prepare prescription orders for pharmacist verification.
• Verify and enter patient demographic and prescription information accurately.
• Bill prescriptions using insurance plans, third-party payers, and 340B pricing programs.
• Prepare and label medications according to established procedures.
• Assist with inventory management, medication ordering, stocking, and replenishment.
• Provide professional customer service to patients in person and by telephone.
• Maintain accurate records and properly file prescription documentation.
• Ensure compliance with HIPAA, South Carolina Board of Pharmacy regulations, and Genesis Healthcare policies.
• Support pharmacy operational goals and quality improvement initiatives.
• Collaborate effectively with pharmacists, providers, clinic staff, patients, and vendors.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by pharmacy leadership.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Position Summary

Requirements

Education

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.

Professional Requirements

• Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) or Registered Pharmacy Technician required.
• Pharmacy Technician License in good standing with no restrictions through the South Carolina Board of Pharmacy.
• Completion of an accredited Pharmacy Technician Training Program or a minimum of three (3) years of pharmacy technician experience required.
• Successful completion of a background check and pre-employment drug screening.
• Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Word and the ability to learn electronic health record, billing, and pharmacy software systems.
• Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
• Customer service experience, preferably in a healthcare or pharmacy setting.
• Ability to handle confidential information in a professional and discreet manner.
• Must participate in onboarding requirements and annual health assessments.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to work at a computer for extended periods, including viewing a computer screen for up to six hours per day.
• Manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard and office equipment.
• Ability to remain stationary for extended periods, up to four hours at a time.
• Ability to communicate effectively in person, by phone, and through written correspondence.
• Ability to function effectively in a busy and occasionally stressful healthcare environment.
