Job summary

VCU Health in Richmond, VA is seeking a Certified Pharmacy Technician to assist pharmacists in preparing, dispensing, recording, and transporting medications for patients of all ages. Under minimal supervision, you will perform duties with high proficiency and take ownership of the work area.

Job description

The Certified Pharmacy Technician aids pharmacists in providing pharmaceutical care services to patients by assisting in the preparation, dispensing, record keeping, and transporting of medications for all patients including the following age groups: neonatal, pediatric, adolescence, adult, and geriatric. Under minimal supervision, this role performs the required duties of a technician at a high level of proficiency, demonstrating exemplary work behaviors and ownership for the success of the work area. This position also learns, performs and completes assignments/responsibilities assigned during the transitional duty period.

Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for Hire:

• Current certification by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) OR valid ExCPT certification provided by the National Health Career Association
• Current licensure with the Virginia State Board of Pharmacy
• By virtue of societal trust and security explicitly imparted to pharmacies for the control of drugs, candidate/incumbent must have a clean criminal record (i.e. no felony conviction; no drug or pharmacy related convictions, including misdemeanors; no denial, suspension, revocation, or restriction of registration or licensure by any State Board of Pharmacy)

Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for continued employment:

• Current certification by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) OR valid ExCPT certification provided by the National Health Career Association
• Current licensure with the Virginia State Board of Pharmacy

Compensation Grade Range: $21.00 - $28.51 Actual salary offers will be based on several key factors to include relevant work experience, credentials, and qualifications.
