Job summary

NCSL International in Woodbury, NY is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to support the preparation and dispensing of compounded medications following patient prescriptions and master formulations.

You will weigh, measure, mix, package, and label capsules, creams, ointments, suspensions, solutions, and suppositories while maintaining rigorous quality assurance, accurate records, and compliance with USP compounding standards and New York state requirements.

Job description

• Prepare customized medications according to patient-specific prescriptions and approved master formulations.
• Weigh, measure, mix, package, and label compounded preparations, including capsules, creams, ointments, suspensions, solutions, and suppositories.
• Follow applicable USP compounding standards, New York State requirements, pharmacy policies, and quality-assurance procedures.
• Verify formulas, ingredients, calculations, packaging, labeling, and beyond-use dates before submitting preparations to the pharmacist for final review.
• Maintain accurate compounding records, inventory records, cleaning logs, calibration logs, and environmental monitoring documentation.
• Perform daily calibration checks on pharmacy balances and confirm that laboratory equipment is operating properly.
• Monitor and document temperatures, humidity levels, and hazardous compounding room pressure, promptly reporting excursions to the pharmacist.
• Clean compounding areas, equipment, and devices according to established procedures.
• Receive, electronically record, organize, and properly store drugs, active pharmaceutical ingredients, chemicals, devices, and supplies.
• Maintain certificates of analysis and safety data sheets as required.
• Restock laboratory supplies and notify the pharmacist when ingredients, materials, or equipment need to be reordered.
• Assist pharmacists with workflow, preparation queues, labeling, and other daily operational needs.
• Participate in required staff meetings, safety meetings, continuing education, and annual training.
• Protect patient information and comply with HIPAA, OSHA, fraud waste and abuse requirements, and company policies.
• Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of two years of pharmacy technician experience preferred.
• Current New York State pharmacy technician registration in good standing, preferred.
• Certified Pharmacy Technician credential in good standing.
• Compounding laboratory experience strongly preferred.
• Knowledge of applicable USP compounding standards and state and federal pharmacy requirements.
• Experience with pharmaceutical calculations, compounding equipment, packaging, labeling, documentation, and quality assurance.
• Strong attention to detail, organization, and time-management skills.
• Ability to manage multiple assignments accurately and meet established preparation deadlines.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong computer skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
