Job summary

Prime Healthcare Services seeks a Certified Pharmacy Technician to join Mission Regional Medical Center in Mission, TX on a per diem basis. Responsibilities include preparing and dispensing medications (unit-dose, IV, chemotherapy), managing inventory, and verifying orders in the EMR system.

The role requires sterile compounding certification within 6 months, state license/registration as applicable, and PTCB or NHA certification if not already held.

Qualifications

• Previous pharmacy technician experience preferred.
• State Pharmacy Technician License/Registration required (if required by state regulations).
• PTCB or NHA certification required or obtained within 6 months of hire.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• ASHP-accredited or equivalent training preferred.
• 340B program experience preferred (if at a 340B facility).
• Sterile Compounding Certification required or obtained within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and dispense medications including unit-dose, IV admixtures, chemotherapy, and operate automated dispensing cabinets.
• Manage inventory across nursing units, crash carts, and automated systems while handling controlled substances and expirations.
• Enter and verify medication orders in hospital EMR systems to ensure accuracy of dosage, form, route, and frequency.
• Support patient safety by checking labels, assisting with medication reconciliation, delivering medications, and preparing drugs for specialized populations.
• Comply with USP standards, maintain regulatory documentation, and take on roles such as IV compounding or lead technician duties.

We are seeking aCertified Pharmacy Technician,sometimes referred to as a Registered CertificatedPharmacyTechnician, Pharmacy Tech (CPhT) or Board-Certified Pharmacy Technician.TheCertified Pharmacy Technicians (CPhTs) support pharmacists by preparing and dispensing medications, including sterile IVs, chemotherapy, and unit-dose drugs for patients. They manage medication inventory across patient care areas, maintain automated dispensing systems, and ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards. Certified Pharmacy Technicians play a vital role in patient safety by verifying orders, preventing errors, and ensuring timely delivery of critical medications.This position is on a per diem basis, meaning PD/PRNas needed.

* Sterile Compounding Certification is required.
