Job description

Responsibilities
  • Assist the pharmacist under direct supervision in the practice of pharmacy and perform other Pharmacy Department duties in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Use pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions. If PTCB certified, coach pharmacy technicians in the operation of pharmacy systems and support the cashier in operating the pharmacy cash registers.
  • Model and deliver a distinctive and delightful customer experience. Engage customers and patients by greeting them, offering assistance with products and services, resolving customer issues, and answering questions to ensure a positive customer experience.
  • Under the supervision of the pharmacist, assist in the practice of pharmacy, review and comply with the Walgreens Co. Pharmacy Code of Conduct, and perform duties as assigned by the Pharmacy Manager, Staff Pharmacist and Store Manager.
  • Maintain accurate pharmacy records, verify prescription validity, check for interactions, and adhere to the Walgreens Co. policy regarding Good Faith Dispensing during all applicable prescription dispensing activities.
  • Manage pharmacy sales on assigned cash registers, handle cash transactions, and assist customers in locating products.
  • Process manual claims for third‑party prescription services, perform clerical duties, and support inventory management activities such as ordering, unpacking, checking, and storing pharmaceutical shipments.
  • Assist pharmacists with clinical services, including collection and labeling of blood / urine samples and coordination of Walgreens healthcare clinics.
  • Maintain respectful relationships with coworkers, comply with all company policies, and complete special assignments as directed.
Operations
  • Assist the pharmacist in administering clinical services, schedule maintenance, and manage pharmacy workflow.
  • Report prescription errors immediately to the pharmacist on duty and adhere to the Quality Improvement Program.
  • Support Pharmacy Manager in developing good relationships with the local medical community through provider detailing and outreach.
  • Ensure the Pharmacy Department is stocked, clean, and orderly.
Training & Personal Development
  • Earn and maintain PTCB certification through the designated training program or state‑required certification.
  • Attend trainings, acquire continuing education credits, and keep up to date with healthcare and pharmacy developments.
Basic Qualifications
  • Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English (except in Puerto Rico).
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
Preferred Qualifications
  • At least six months of experience in a retail environment.
  • Prior experience with Walgreens.
  • Strong math skills for accurate prescription filling.
  • Good computer skills and knowledge of store inventory control.
  • PTCB certification.
Compensation

Salary Range: $19 – $22.5 per hour.
