Job summary

Burrell Behavioral Health is seeking a Certified Peer Specialist in Columbia, MO to provide recovery-focused support to youth and adults. You will draw on personal experience to inspire hope, guide symptom management, and help navigate complex systems while maintaining confidentiality and ethics.

Requires Missouri certification and a high school diploma or GED. This PRN/Part Time role offers mileage reimbursement, employee discounts, and access to benefits; work with Crisis Services and Rapid

Qualifications

• Missouri Certified Peer Specialist required.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Valid driver's license and auto insurance.

Responsibilities

• Empower individuals to recognize strengths, set goals and make informed decisions.
• Advocate for clients and connect them to needed resources and services.
• Provide emotional support through active listening and encouragement.
• Assist during crises, de-escalate situations and connect to services.
• Teach practical skills such as problem solving, communication and stress management.
• Link clients to housing, employment, education and peer support groups.
• Guide clients through complex service systems and accompany to meetings.
• Promote a recovery-oriented, person-centered approach; maintain ethics and privacy.
• Read and follow instructions, perform basic math, and document care accurately.
• Maintain certifications and participate in supervision and continuing education.
