Job summary

Professional Services Group & Community Impact Programs in West Allis, Wisconsin, is seeking a part-time Certified Peer Support Specialist to join the CCS Ancillary Services program. You will work within a multidisciplinary team to support individuals in their recovery journey and serve as a peer mentor.

This role requires personal recovery experience, ability to travel locally, and flexible, part-time hours between 12-20 per week, with mileage reimbursement and a pay rate of $19.00 to $22.00

Qualifications

• Must be certified, or in the process of being certified, through the State of Wisconsin as a Peer Support Specialist.
• Reliable transportation daily, a valid driver's license, and automobile insurance.
• At minimum, a high school diploma / GED / equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Participate as part of the person's recovery team.
• Communicate and support providers of family teams.
• Provide information on peer support and recovery models.
• Offer recipients insight about recovery and peer-to-peer relations.
• Intervene as an advocate in school, work, and community settings as needed.
• Help connect recipients with community organizations and support groups.
• Attend team meetings as required.
• Safely transport clients when necessary.

PSG is a community-based social services organization dedicated to helping individuals and families through dynamic and innovative programming. We are seeking a part-time Certified Peer Support Specialist to join our CCS Ancillary Services program.

JOB SUMMARY:

The Comprehensive Community Services (CCS) Ancillary Services program uses goal-oriented interventions to support youth and adult consumers who are struggling in various aspects of their lives.

The Certified Peer Support Specialist works within a multi-disciplinary team to help consumers in their recovery journey. As the Peer Support Specialist, you will serve as a role model, mentor, advocate, and motivator to adult individuals with a history of substance abuse to help promote long-term recovery and prevent relapse. The Peer Support Specialist must be able to share your personal recovery experiences and develop authentic peer-to-peer relationships.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE CERTIFIED PEER SUPPORT SPECIALIST:

• Participate as an integral part of the person's identified recovery team.
• Communicate, collaborate, and support providers of family teams.
• Provide information as to the purpose of peer support and recovery models.
• Provide recipients with information and insight about recovery.
• Exercise judgment to intervene as an advocate in school, work, the community, and during emergency and crisis situations as appropriate.
• Provide support in connecting service recipients with community organizations and support groups.
• Attend team meetings as needed.
• Safely transport clients as needed.

LOCATION: West Allis, Wisconsin. Local travel throughout the Milwaukee County area is required to meet with clients within the home and other community spaces, with mileage reimbursement.

PAY RATE: $19.00-22.00 per hour

SCHEDULE: Part-time 12-20 hours per week. Work hours are flexible and based upon assigned client availability. Most hours will be during the Monday-Friday workweek, with occasional weekend hours based upon client need.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Must be certified, or in the process of being certified, through the State of Wisconsin as a Peer Support Specialist
• Must have reliable transportation on a daily basis, a valid driver's license, and automobile insurance.
