Job summary

Merakey is seeking a Certified Peer Specialist to join our team in Philadelphia County, PA. The role is full-time, Monday–Friday, 8:30a–4:30p, offering peer support to individuals in recovery and collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.

The CPS will provide guidance, advocacy, and information to clients, while modeling recovery and promoting a recovery-oriented approach. A CPS certification and training are required, with a valid PA driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Qualifications

• Self-identified individual with a mental health diagnosis who has progressed in recovery.
• Must be eighteen (18) years of age or older.
• Must complete department-approved peer services training.
• Must obtain CPS certification through the Pennsylvania Certification Board.
• Must have a clean, valid Driver's License and reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Assist consumers in regaining control over their lives and recovery through individual and group encounters.
• Model recovery competencies and provide peer support and advocacy in communities, inpatient, or emergency settings.
• Offer consultation to the team to promote a recovery-oriented culture.

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

• Be a self-identified individual with a mental health diagnosis and who has reached a point in their recovery pathway where they can positively support others in similar situations.
• Be eighteen (18) years of age or older.
• Have completed a department approved peer services training.

• Clean, valid Driver's License.
• Reliable car needed.

Position Details

The Certified Peer Specialist (CPS) performs a range of tasks through individual and group encounters to assist consumers in regaining control over their own lives and over their own recovery process. The CPS will role model competency in recovery and ongoing coping skills, serve as a consumer advocate, provided information and peer support in their communities, inpatient, or emergency setting. The CPS also provides essential expertise and consultation to other team members in promoting a recovery-oriented culture and practice of service provision and in understanding the consumers perspective and subjective experience. Services are provided in accordance with all existing policies, procedures, and regulations and in accord with the mission and value of the company.
