Job summary

HCA Florida Orange Park Hospital in Orange Park, FL is hiring PRN Certified Patient Care Technicians to join our team. Working under the supervision of RNs, you will deliver high-quality patient-centered care and assist with daily living activities in our acute care units or at Normandy Park ED.

Expect 2-3 shifts per week, including weekends, with options 11a-11p, 3p-11p, 7a-7p, or 7p-7a. Florida CNA licensure preferred (or obtainable within 30 days); BLS required within 30 days; prior hospital

Qualifications

• + CNA license in Florida preferred or must be obtained within 30 days of employment.
• + RN Nursing School Students may be considered.
• + BLS Health Care Provider certification required or to be obtained within 30 days.
• + 1 year acute/hospital experience preferred; ER/urgent care preferred.
• + Nonviolent Crisis Intervention within 90 days of employment start date.

Responsibilities

• Obtain vital signs, height/weight, intake/output, and basic dressings.
• Answer call lights promptly and respond to patient needs.
• Assist with activities of daily living (bathing, grooming, toileting, feeding).
• Assist with safe patient handling and transfers.
• Record information in patient medical records.
• Maintain communication with physicians and nursing staff.
• Educate patients and families on care being provided.
• Monitor supplies and restock as needed.

HCA Florida Orange Park Hospital is located outside of Jacksonville FL in the suburb of Orange Park FL and is located off of Kingsley Avenune.

HCA Florida Normandy Park Free Standing Emergency Department is located at 5773 Normandy Blvd, Jacksonville FL.

Multiple PRN positions available. Expectation is 2-3 shifts per week including the weekends. Shift options are 11a-11p or 3p-11p or 7a-7p or 7p-7a.

Job Summary And Qualifications

As a PCT in our department, you will deliver high-quality, patient-centered care by performing a variety of important patient care services related to common nursing functions and activities of daily living. Under supervision of the RN, you will assist the nursing staff in providing patient care with your skills and training and in accordance with the needs of our department. The PCT will consistently assist the patient care team by maintaining a clean, well-organized and safe patient care environment.

What you will do in this role:

• You will obtain vital signs, height and weight, intake and output, calorie counts, application of ice/heat, and/or simple non-sterile dressing changes.
• You will answer patient call lights in a timely manner and respond to patient needs/requests.
• You will assist patients with performing activities of daily living to include bathing, shaving, oral care, toileting, grooming, changing linens, providing water, ambulating, assisting with meal delivery and feeding as directed.
• You will be responsible for safe patient handling: Turning and positioning, use of specialty beds, patient transfer and use of transfer devices, ambulation assistance and use of assistive devices, restraint alternatives, oxygen use and transport, suction use, pre-operative skin preparation and/or use of sequential compression devices (SCD).
• You will be responsible for recording information in the patient’s medical records
• You will maintain close communication with physicians, nurses and other healthcare team members regarding changes in a patient’s care and condition.
• You will be responsible for educating patients and families on the care and therapies being provided, in conjunction with physicians and nurses.
• You will monitor supply levels in your unit and patient rooms and restock as needed

What qualifications you will need:

• Licensed as a CNA in Florida highly preferred or must be obtained within 30 days of employment.
• RN Nursing School Students may be considered.
• A current American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS) Health Care Provider is required or must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
• 1 year of acute/hospital experience is preferred. Emergency Room or Urgent Care experience preferred.
• Nonviolent Crisis Intervention must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date
