Job summary

Banner Health is seeking a Patient Care Assistant in our 2N Telemetry Observation unit in Sun City, AZ. The role focuses on routine patient care, data collection, and collaboration with physicians, case management, and nurses to support patient needs.

This fast-paced unit offers ongoing training and the opportunity to float to other IP units as needed. Part-time, 2 days per week, 12-hour shifts, with weekend and holiday rotations to ensure continuous patient coverage.

Qualifications

• Certification as CNA/LNA is required or preferred.
• Experience in bedside care and telemetry settings is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide routine patient care to promote comfort and participate in overall patient care plan.
• Collect patient data including vital signs and intake/output, and document in medical records.
• Recognize and report changes in patient status to licensed staff.
• Perform procedures and use equipment under supervision as appropriate.
• Support unit operations with receptionist/clerical duties as needed.

The Observation service line is a fast-paced, 24-bed unit on 2N. As a Patient Care Assistant in our Telemetry unit focused on Observation status patients, you will be a part of a demanding environment with a wide variety of patient illnesses. This area features a dynamic similar to the ED, with the diagnostic work-ups and care needs of the Telemetry setting. This wide variety develops a strong clinical foundation and knowledge as you work closely with physicians, case management and experienced nurses. Y ou may potentially float to other IP units, as needed. Daily you will be responsible for on-going patient data collection and documentation in the medical records and provide a variety of unit support functions which contribute to the overall efficient operation of the nursing unit/department. POSITION SUMMARY

This position provides routine patient care to promote patient comfort and contribute to the overall patient plan of care. This position is responsible for on-going patient data collection and documentation in the medical records and provides a variety of unit support functions which contribute to the overall efficient operation of the nursing unit/department.

CORE FUNCTIONS

• 1. Provides assistance in activities of daily living and completes necessary tasks to promote patient health, including assisting patients with basic hygiene needs, maintaining an optimum level of mobility and providing assistance with nutritional intake as needed.
• 2. Collects patient specimens and data, including vital signs, input/output and other delegated measurements in accordance with unit/facility policy and standards of care. Documents objective data and routine aspects of patient care. Assists in the transportation of patient specimens.
• 3. Recognizes and reports abnormalities and/or changes in the patient's health status and responses to treatment to a licensed professional. Promotes continuity of care by accurately and completely communicating to other caregivers the status of patients for which care is provided.
• 4. Performs procedures and uses equipment as delegated by a licensed professional, consistent with demonstrated competencies and according to state scope of practice; procedures may include blood draws, foley catheters removal, EKGs, and EKG monitoring. Provides necessary supplies, support and assistance to medical staff and patients for unit specific procedures, under the direct supervision of a licensed professional.
