A healthcare rehabilitation organization in Santa Monica, CA, is seeking a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant to provide quality patient care. Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year Occupational Therapy Assistant experience preferred.

• Vietnamese language preference for patient interaction.

Responsibilities

• Provide therapy services established by the Occupational Therapist in the patient Plan of Care.
• Document all services provided to ensure accurate billing.
• Communicate with patients, families, and other team members.
• Complete daily notes and assist with progress notes and discharge summaries.
• Submit billing documentation promptly and coordinate with the team.
• Engage with patients, families, and referring physicians regarding progress.

Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant - PRN

Occupational Therapy Assistant will assist in providing appropriate aspects of quality patient care, under the supervision of licensed therapists. OTA will document all services provided to ensure accurate and timely billing of therapy services. The OTA assures that patient care follows the OT Plan of Care, the organization’s guidelines, meets professional standards, community needs and is in compliance with Federal and State guidelines.

Job Duties:

• Provides Therapy services established by the Occupational Therapist (OTR) in the patient Plan of Care.
• Provides therapy services under the supervision of an OTR as determined by the Registered Therapist and in compliance with State and Federal guidelines.
• Consults with OTR regarding changes in treatment or condition in a timely manner.
• Completes documentation including daily notes and assists the OTR to create progress notes, discharge summaries, or monthly reports as needed.
• Submits billing, payroll, and expense documentation in a timely manner.
• Communicates with patients, families, referring physicians and other members of the team.
• Attends continuing education seminars/workshops to keep abreast of new clinical skills, programs or techniques.
• Participates in care planning meetings, rehab meetings and family training to communicate patient progress as requested by the OTR, Director of Rehab or Rehab Resource Consultant.
• Follows organizational and facility policies and procedures to ensure employee and patient safety.
• Ensures equipment is in good working order prior to providing care to patients. Follows procedures for reporting damaged equipment.
• Maintains a clean environment.
• Attends required meetings, in-services and functions as designated by the Director of Rehab and/or the Rehab Resource Consultant.
• Coordinates treatment goals with other team members.
• Maintains valid licensure, certification or equivalent as requested by appropriate state agency.

Education Required:

• Minimum of Associate of Arts in Occupational Therapy Assistant
• Licensure/Certification: Licensure as required by State guidelines
• Certification as required by State
• CPR Certification
• Vietnamese speaking strongly preferred

Experience:

• 1 year Occupational Therapy Assistant experience preferred.
• 1-2 years experience in a residential/assisted living or skilled nursing facility preferred.
• Graduates in Occupational Therapy Assistant Program will be considered.
