LeafBridge Alt Ed. seeks an Occupational Therapy Assistant to promote curriculum access and progress toward goals for students with complex learning needs.

Under supervision, you will provide OT services in center or community settings and support data collection with a licensed OT. You will implement interventions for positioning, mobility, and daily functional skills, assist in developing personalized learning plans, and collaborate with related services staff.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program.
  • Licensed by the State of Ohio.
  • Certification from the State Department of Education.
  • Ability to lift at least 50 pounds; understand safety protocols.
  • Valid Ohio driver's license with ≤2 moving violations; reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

  • Review student data (IEPs, ETRs, medical records) as part of OT planning.
  • Provide occupational therapy services to students in center or community settings.
  • Develop and update personalized learning plans and therapeutic activities.
  • Implement interventions for positioning, mobility, and functional daily skills (toileting, eating, dressing).
  • Collaborate with related services staff and document services per agency/state rules.
  • Assist Teaching Assistants and Intervention Specialists in activities and use of adaptive equipment.
  • Complete clerical tasks in Microsoft Office and manage information storage.
  • Maintain a safe, clean environment and follow infection control protocols.
  • Provide delegated nursing care under supervision when required.
  • Perform housekeeping tasks related to client needs.

BASIC FUNCTION: Under supervision of the LeafBridge Alt Ed. Physical and Occupational Therapy Supervisor, promote curriculum access and progress toward academic and functional goals for students with complex learning needs. Use holistic intervention strategies within guidelines as established by Ohio Law and Rules covering the Practice of Occupational Therapy and within the context of the established code of ethics.QUALIFICATIONS: Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy assistant program, licensed by the State of Ohio, certification from the State Department of Education, and the ability to lift a minimum of fifty (50) pounds. Possess a valid Ohio driver’s license with no more than two (2) moving violations and have reliable daily transportation1.Gather and review pertinent data from student’s records including but not limited to: Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), Evaluation Team Reports (ETR), medical records and progress notes.Support data collection, progress monitoring, and assessment of skills in direct collaboration with a licensed Occupational Therapist.Provide occupational therapy services to students in center or community based settings.Assist in the development and updates of personalized learning plans, learning objectives or therapeutic activities for clients under the direction of related services staff and Intervention Specialists.Implement interventions, adaptations, and modifications that support positioning, mobility, access, functional skills (toileting, eating, grooming, dressing), academic success, communication, and social skills as assigned by the related services team to include Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, and Speech Therapy. This includes regular personal care for the health and safety of all students.Support Teaching Assistants and Intervention in implementation of selected activities, handling techniques, and use of adaptive equipment.Document services provided as needed, in alignment with agency standards and state rules and laws regarding the education of students with disabilities.Engage in all staff trainings, in-services, professional development, and meetings utilizing active learning and listening techniques to build specific job knowledge and skills.Maintain a safe and clean environment throughout the day as delegated including sanitizing medical equipment such as wheelchairs, standers, oral motor items, etc., and other cleaning tasks as needed by the program.Complete a variety of clerical tasks which require entry level skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel,Publisher, PowerPoint). Assist in storing and organizing information on Teams or other designated location.Other clerical duties include but are not limited to scanning, laminating, copying, assembling, organizing, inventory and filing.Provide delegated nursing care, including but not limited to tube feeding, catheter care, the administration of medications, and other routine medical procedures under the direction of the delegating nurse.Perform housekeeping tasks as related to client needs and in accordance with all relevant regulations—i.e., universal precautions and infection control—including laundry, dishwashing, discarding of materials safely, cleaning/disinfecting contaminated surfaces, etc.Implement appropriate behavior support techniques are determined by the intervention team.Other job-related duties as assigned.
