Job summary

Discovery At Home is seeking a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to support home health services in Florida. You will work under an Occupational Therapist to assess patients, develop and adjust rehabilitation plans, and educate patients and caregivers on mobility and independence.

Strong documentation and collaboration with healthcare teams are essential. Required qualifications include a COTA degree and license, CPR certification, and at least one year of home health experience.

Qualifications

• Current CPR certification.

Responsibilities

• Under the direction of the Occupational Therapist, assists in evaluation and development of the rehabilitative plan of care and in period re-evaluations as required.
• Educate patients and caregivers on proper techniques to improve mobility, reduce pain, and prevent injuries
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation and progress notes.
• Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure patients receive comprehensive care
• Guide and instruct patients in prescribed therapeutic self-care and activities to improve independence and functioning.
• Attend and participate in department staff meetings and case conference meetings.

Qualifications

• COTA degree from an accredited program
• A COTA license from applicable state
• One year of home health experience required
• Must have knowledge of Medicare and Medicaid guidelines.
• Current CPR certification
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Basic computer skill proficiency. Ability to use Microsoft Windows.

Background Screening Requirement

Employment in Florida is contingent upon completion of a Level 2 background screening in accordance with Florida AHCA requirements.
