Job summary

Associates in Pediatric Therapy (APT) is seeking a dedicated Occupational Therapy Assistant to support pediatric patients under OT supervision. You will help children develop daily living skills, document progress, and work with families in a supportive, family-centered setting.

Qualifications

• AT LEAST an Associate Degree from an accredited program.
• Strong understanding of pediatric occupational delays, causes and treatments.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Team-oriented, collaborative approach with other disciplines.

Responsibilities

• Under supervision of an Occupational Therapist, treat pediatric patients to improve daily living skills.
• Document treatment length and progress toward plan of care outcomes.
• Educate patients and caregivers about functional delays and treatment plans.
• Report progress to families and medical professionals as appropriate.
• Collaborate with parents, caregivers, and other therapists in sessions.
• Refer patients for additional services when needed.

What You'll Do:

Under the direction and supervision of an Occupational Therapist, treat patients with disorders which prohibit or delay self-care to enhance independence for daily life skills.

• Prepare detailed documentation of treatment provided, length of treatment and progress toward outcomes identified in plan of care set by an occupational therapist
• Follow through on treatment and therapy plans to suit the individual needs of a diverse population of patients including short- and long-term goals
• Educate patients, parents and caregivers about functional and self-care delays, causes and plan or treatment
• Report patient progress and current status to appropriate parties including family members, caregiver or medical professional
• Team with parent, caregiver or other therapists in a therapy session, as appropriate
• Make appropriate referrals for additional patient services, as needed

What We're Looking For:

Our Ideal COTA Candidate Has:

• An Occupational Therapy Assistant must have at least an Associates Degree from an accredited establishment and passed their exams administered by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy
• Thorough understanding of pediatric occupational delays, causes and treatments
• Excellent communication skills: oral and written
• An individual who thrives on being part of a team, working alongside other disciplines, as needed
