Job summary

Creative Solutions Services, LLC seeks a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to provide outpatient rehab in home-based settings for older adults in Lanham, MD. Shift 08:00–16:30, 8 hours/day, 5 days/week, 13-week assignment with a 40-hour minimum guarantee.

Under supervision of an Occupational Therapist, the COTA will implement therapy programs, document progress, and collaborate with the rehab team to adapt activities for independence and functioning.

Qualifications

  • Must have a valid license in the state(s) of practice.
  • Must have a valid driver's license or reliable transportation to and from patients' residences.
  • Minimum guarantee: 40 hours per week.

Responsibilities

  • Attends and contributes to patient care, staffing conferences and other required meetings as a representative of occupational therapy, under the direction of the Occupational Therapist.
  • Adheres to department and patient treatment schedule, timely clinical and billing documentation requirements as well as work related meetings.
  • Works with other members of the rehabilitation team to develop programs and activities for each patient.
  • Instructs patients, families and other caregivers in the skills and techniques of the occupational therapy treatment program under supervision.
  • Maintains appropriate and timely documentation for all patients treated.
  • Cleans, maintains, identifies, and reports the need for repair of equipment.
  • Puts Patient Service First: ensures high quality service in a caring atmosphere.
  • Implements a patient's individualized treatment plan as established by the primary Occupational Therapist.
  • Provides OT interventions including muscle strength, mobility, balance, ADLs, etc.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Occupational Therapy Assistant will primarily provide outpatient rehabilitation services in an in-home setting for the older adult population. The in-home setting could be a patient's private residence or in a patient's room in an independent living facility. Client Rehabilitation To You allows the Occupational Therapy Assistant to treat in the most functional environment which is the patient's home. The Occupational Therapy Assistant implements occupational therapy programs and provides occupational therapy treatments to patients to facilitate increased independence and functioning, under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist. This position provides a flexible schedule and work environment in various settings.

RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES

Attends and contributes to patient care, staffing conferences and other required meetings as a representative of occupational therapy, under the direction of the Occupational Therapist.

Responsible for adherence to department and patient treatment schedule, timely clinical and billing documentation requirements as well as work related meetings.

Works with other members of the rehabilitation team to develop programs and activities consistent with the needs and capabilities of each patient.

Instructs patients, families and other caregivers in the skills and techniques of the occupational therapy treatment program under the supervision of the Occupational Therapist.

Maintains appropriate and timely documentation for all patients treated.

Cleans, maintains, identifies, and reports the need for repair of equipment, as necessary.

Puts Patient Service First: Ensures that patients and families receive the highest quality of service in a caring and compassionate atmosphere which recognizes the individuals' needs and rights.

Implements a patient's individualized treatment plan as established by the primary Occupational Therapist.

Provides individualized occupational therapy interventions including application of therapeutic techniques in such areas as, but not limited to:

muscle strength

coordination

mobility

sensory awareness

sitting and standing tolerance

balance

activities of daily living

joint protection

work simplification

orientation

physical agent modalities

low vision

medication management

health and wellness

community integration and reintegration

Performs other related duties as required.

SPECIFIC EDUCATIONAL/VOCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Must have a valid license in the state(s) of practice, or proof of license eligibility.

Must have a valid driver's license or reliable, independent transportation to and from the patients' residence.

Complies with applicable legal requirements, standards, policies and procedures including but not limited to those within the Compliance and Ethics Program, Standard/Code of Conduct, Federal False Claims Act and HIPAA.

Promptly reports concerns and suspected incidences of non-compliance to supervisor, Compliance Liaison or to the Compliance Officer via the Integrity Hotline.

Cooperates with monitoring and audit functions and investigations.

Participates, as requested, in quality assurance and process improvement activities.
