Job summary

Valley View Care Center is seeking an occupational therapy assistant to support the OT team in providing comprehensive rehab services within a long-term care setting. The role emphasizes patient assessment, care planning, direct treatment, and collaboration with nursing and other departments to promote resident wellness.

The OTA will assist in implementing treatment plans, coordinating activities, and supporting the rehabilitation team to help residents achieve functional goals and maintain

Qualifications

  • High school diploma required.
  • Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant licensed in the state of practice.
  • Experience in long-term care or skilled nursing preferred.
  • Effective communication skills to maintain positive relationships with residents, families, staff, physicians, consultants, providers and the community.
  • Current knowledge of local, state and federal guidelines and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Meets residents’ goals and provides quality care by assisting in evaluating and interpreting assessments and test results; helps determine occupational therapy treatment plans with physicians or by prescription.
  • Maintain productivity as directed by Rehabilitation Directors.
  • Help residents develop or regain functioning by implementing programs involving manual arts and crafts, functional skills, ADLs, sensorimotor, and social activities; supervise aides and assistants.
  • Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned at any time.

Position Description

Responsible for assisting the Occupational Therapist and/or supervisor in the overall day to day operations of occupational therapy services of the center. Provides assistance in coordination with other divisions, departments and nursing staff to ensure that quality care is provided and to support the goals and objectives of the company. Promotes wellness through the assistance of completion of patient assessment, care planning, direct treatment and consultation to a general rehab caseload.

Principal Responsibilities
  • Meets the resident’s goals and needs and provides quality care by assisting in the assessing and interpreting evaluations and test results; determining occupational therapy treatment plans in consultation with physicians or by prescription.
  • Maintain productivity as set forth by the Director of Rehabilitation and/or Regional Director.
  • Helps residents develop or regain physical or mental functioning or adjust to disabilities by assisting in the implementation of programs involving manual arts and crafts, practice in functional, prevocational, vocational, and homemaking skills, activities of daily living, and sensorimotor, educational, recreational, and social activities; directing aides, technicians, and assistants.
  • Other duties, responsibilities and activities may change or assigned at any time with or without notice.
Qualifications

  • Must be a Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant in the state in which practiced.
  • Experience in long term care or skilled nursing, preferred.
  • Possess effective communication skills to maintain positive relationship with residents, families, staff, physicians, consultants, providers, and governmental agencies, their representatives and the community.
  • Current knowledge of local, state and federal guidelines and regulations.
