Summary:

Under supervision of an Occupational Therapist, provides treatment to occupational therapy patients to help regain physical abilities, increase skills, and promote independence. Performs related clerical and service duties.

Qualifications:

Must be able to perform all essential duties satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities.

Education & Qualification Requirements:
  • Associate's degree in occupational therapy assistant from an accredited college.
  • Current state license/registration as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Assist in developing and implementing patient care plans; perform daily assignments to meet treatment goals.
  • Care for assigned patients daily.
  • Guide patients through prescribed exercise routines.
  • Apply treatments/modalities such as heat, light, water, electrical stimulation, etc., as prescribed and with competency.
  • Assist in retraining ADL skills.
  • Perform therapeutic activities like massage.
  • Monitor patient condition during treatment.
  • Seek assistance from Occupational Therapist when needed.
  • Document patient responses and progress.
  • Refer patients for re-evaluation as necessary.
  • Communicate regularly with the Occupational Therapist about treatment plans and progress.
  • Participate in team meetings.
  • Advise staff on occupational therapy programs and provide training on equipment and treatment rationale.
  • Maintain a clean and safe treatment environment.
  • Follow sterile procedures and report equipment needs.
  • Assist with scheduling and census maintenance.
  • Uphold ethical standards and foster teamwork.
  • Maintain punctuality and effective communication.
  • Attend meetings and participate in ongoing development.
  • Observe infection control protocols.
  • Perform other duties as required.
