Job summary

La Paz Regional Hospital & Clinics in Parker, AZ is seeking a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to work with an OT team to deliver occupational therapy and sensory integration services. The COTA will focus on improving fine motor, sensory-motor, visual-perceptual, and self-care skills through individualized activity plans.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in an approved/accredited OTA program; NBCOT passed.
• Current BCLS certification.
• Current AZ state COTA licensure.

Overview

The Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) supports and assists the Occupational Therapist (OT), working as a member of a team, to provide occupational therapy and sensory integration to patients. With support from the OT, the COTA targets the acquisition of or compensations for deficits in fine motor skills, sensory motor skills, visual perceptual skills, and self-care skills, and supports patients in necessary foundational skills through individually selected motor activities. The COTA consults with team members to modify the environment and instructional methodology to support patient achievement in a home, community, vocation, project or skill.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in an approved/accredited OTA program; NBCOT passed.
• Current BCLS certification.
• Current AZ state COTA licensure.

Language Skills

• Ability to read and communicate effectively in English.
• Additional languages preferred.
• Strong written and verbal skills.

Skills

• Basic computer knowledge.
• Knowledge of physical medicine, modalities, anatomy and physiology.
• Knowledge of therapy machine operation, maintenance and repairs of same.
