The Community Action Corporation of South Texas is seeking an Occupational Therapy Assistant to aid in providing therapy to children in natural environments. The role entails working under a licensed occupational therapist and involving responsibilities such as maintaining confidentiality, assisting with treatment plans, and adhering to ethical standards.
A successful candidate has an associate’s degree in occupational therapy assistance and a Texas license, with a preference for those with pediatric experience and bilingual skills.
Responsible to assist in the practice of occupational therapy under the supervision of an occupational therapist. Typically, therapy will be provided in the child’s natural environment.
If a preliminary offer of employment is extended, a physical will be required before the offer can be accepted. Light to medium physical duties include standing, walking, reaching, bending, hearing, talking, kneeling, floor sitting, pulling, grasping, pushing, stooping, sitting, climbing, occasional running, and the ability to move with agility to carry out IFSP services. Must be able to lift up to thirty‑five (35) pounds. Must be able to work in variable environments related to temperature, humidity, degrees of cleanliness/order, and around other varied environmental factors and elements. Non‑physical requirements: Performing multiple tasks simultaneously, meeting multiple deadlines, making judgment decisions, handling emergencies, irregular schedules, and working as a team member with other employees and client teams.
