Responsibilities

• Provide physical support to assist residents to perform daily living activities, such as lifting, transfers, bed mobility, bathing, dressing, toileting, standing, walking, exercising, serving and assisting with meals, and taking vital signs
• Observe and document health, behavior, physical and emotional condition of residents; promptly report changes to the nurse
• Respond promptly to resident call signals, signal lights, bells, or intercoms to determine needs
• Promote resident safety and a clean, safe environment by observing infection control practices and reporting unsafe situations
• Communicate effectively with nurses regarding resident conditions, changes, and concerns
• Complete required documentation in a timely manner
• Provide companionship, comfort, and support to residents
• Meet federal and state in-service requirements
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned

Working Conditions and Physical Demands

Physical Requirements - The physical activities of this position include:

• Prolonged standing
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds; moving or transferring residents may involve up to 75 pounds
• Exert maximum muscle force to lift, push, pull, or carry patients
• Use of abdominal and lower back muscles over time without fatigue
• Standing for extended periods; bending, stooping, stretching, twisting, sitting and reaching
• Fine motor skills

Cognitive Requirements - The cognitive activities with or without prosthetics of this position include:
