Job summary

Nebraska Medicine is hiring a Certified Nursing Assistant or Nursing Assistant for the Oncology Progressive Care Unit (W-PCU) at Werner Cancer Hospital. Dayshift opportunities exist in a 24-bed unit serving adults undergoing oncology and related care, with 12-hour shift times from 7:00 am to 7:30 pm.

Qualifications

• Minimum age 16 for CNA and 18 for Nursing Assistant.
• Nursing Assistant requires High School diploma or equivalent.
• BLS certification within 30 days of hire (AHA endorsed).
• CNA certification must be current in Nebraska.

Responsibilities

• Perform delegated patient activities as assigned by licensed nursing personnel to support patient care plans.
• Communicate effectively with patients, families and the care team.
• Maintain patient safety, accuracy and comfort in the Progressive Care Unit.

Certified Nursing Assistant: Perform delegated patient activities as assigned by licensed nursing personnel for the achievement of patient`s plan of care.Required Qualifications:

• Minimum of 16 years of age required.
• Possesses a Certified Nursing Assistant certification in the state of Nebraska required.
• Demonstrated effective communication skills required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of hire required, must be from an American Heart Association (AHA) endorsed program (effective for new hires starting January 1, 2023 or later).

Preferred Qualifications:

• Knowledge of computer data entry and word processing preferred.
• Basic knowledge of medical terminology preferred.

Nursing Assistant: Perform delegated patient activities as assigned by licensed nursing personnel for the achievement of patient`s plan of care.Required Qualifications:

• Minimum of 18 years of age required.
• High school education or equivalent required.
• Six months experience in patient care required or must be enrolled in nursing program.
• Demonstrated effective communication skills required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required, must be from an American Heart Association (AHA) endorsed program (effective for new hires starting January 1, 2023 or later).

Preferred Qualifications:

• Direct patient care experience preferred.
• Knowledge of computer data entry and word processing preferred
