Job summary

Mercyhealth is seeking a Clinical Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) to deliver hands-on patient care in a fast-paced setting. You will assist with daily activities, monitor patients, and document care under RN supervision.

Completion of a CNA program and current state CNA certification are required, with CPR/BLS to be obtained within 90 days. This role offers opportunities for growth and teamwork within Mercyhealth’s clinical staff.

OVERVIEW

As a Clinical Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), you'll play a vital role on the frontlines of patient care - providing hands-on support that directly impacts comfort, safety, and recovery. This is an opportunity to make a meaningful difference every day while working alongside a skilled clinical team in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Schedule: 32 hours per week Shift: Second Shift

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provides patient care as assigned and per routine as defined by educational scope, according to standards of care, shift routines, and policies and procedures.


• Answers call lights in a timely and appropriate manner.


• Documents care provided according to standards.


• Maintains a clean work and patient environment.


• Maintains supplies, including scanning, stocking and ordering new supplies and disposing of expired or damaged supplies.


• Floats to various units based on identified patient care needs.


• Participates in department or unit performance improvement activities.


• Training/precepting new partners in collaboration with unit educator.


• Blood Glucose Monitoring (BGM) with lab personnel.


• Bladder scanning procedure reviewed.


• Bladder scanner training complete (check off sheet for competency).


• Attaching patient to remote telemetry or bedside cardiac monitor.


• Managing and reporting collection devices: Colostomy, ileostomy or other fecal management systems: care and output measures.


• Indwelling catheters: care and output measures.


• Nasogastric tubes to suction.


• Surgical drains under direction of supervising RN.


• Competent in completing vital signs: Manual process for blood pressure and required reporting of abnormal values to supervising RN.


• Discontinue invasive devices under the direction of the supervising RN: Indwelling (Foley) catheters, Nasogastric tubes, Peripherally inserted intravenous catheters, Similar devices as appropriate.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

Completion of a CNA program.

CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE

Current CNA certificate in applicable state.

Approved CPR or BLS certification required within 90 days.
