Position Summary

The Clinical Nursing Assistant is a clinical-minded, C.N.A. certified professional responsible for assisting the nursing department. Clinical duties include assisting nurses with patient flow, set up and clean up of infusion suites, and monitoring vital signs throughout patient’s appointments. In this position one will be responsible for delivering outstanding customer service to our patients and family members, and supporting the pharmacy and nursing departments with patient care.

Essential Job Functions
  • Maintains supply par levels in patient infusion suites and lab room daily checking equipment and supplies for expiration dates, levels, and functionality.
  • Manages laundry stock and cleaning daily.
  • Assists nursing team with appointment confirmation and screening calls as needed.
  • Prepare seating chart for next day.
  • Screens patients prior to appointment time per active policies and procedures.
  • Assists nurses with preparing patient chart as needed.
  • Rooms patients for their appointment and notifies nurse when the patient has arrived.
  • Obtains patient weights and other vital signs, reporting to nurses in a timely manner.
  • Cleans infusion suites and equipment between patient visits, documenting appropriately according to ISI Policies and Procedures.
  • Periodically checks patient bathrooms throughout the day, cleaning or restocking as needed.
  • Closes infusion suites at the end of the day including collecting trash/recycle, cleaning and resetting rooms, unplugging heaters, plugging in infusion pumps and wiping down all surfaces (including handles, buttons, sinks, equipment).
  • Regularly monitors and maintains infusion therapy equipment and supplies including: O2 levels, vital sign equipment, sharps containers, anaphylactic kit expiry dates, scales and PPE kits in accordance with Infusion Solutions Policies.
  • Follows organization of infection control policies and procedures.
  • Checks patient coffee bar and restocks snacks and beverages for patients as needed.
  • Submits supply requests for patient snacks and beverages.
  • Assists with patient scheduling and reminder calls.
  • Uses proper body mechanics and lifting techniques.
  • Adheres to all applicable agency, payroll, billing, and documentation policies and procedures.

  • Reports To: RN, RN Supervisor, or Clinic Nurse Manager.
QualificationsRequired Education, Licensure & Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent; CNA certification required.
  • Previous experience in a clinical or patient care setting preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of medical terminology and infection control procedures.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; able to follow instructions and work independently.
  • Attention to detail and ability to document patient care accurately.
  • Knowledge of filing systems, medical charts and office systems.
  • Ability to interact on the phone and personally with diverse people.
  • Must work well under pressure/stress, with excellent verbal communication skills.
  • Must have good organizational skills, critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Able to interact with chronically ill clients with sensitivity, tact, and respect.
  • Must be able to handle many different tasks and work well within interdisciplinary a team environment.
Preferred Education & Experience

Preferred qualifications are not required but are job-related and consistent with business necessity.

  • Experience in infusion therapy, home health, or outpatient clinical settings.
  • Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
  • CPR or basic life support (BLS) certification.

Work Environment

Occasional to frequent exposure to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals. The typical noise level is quiet to moderate. Staff must be able to hear alarms, patient calls, and instructions from medical personnel.
