Job summary

Bobit Business Media is seeking a Certified Nursing Assistant for Home Services in Virginia. The role provides personal care in home or home-like settings, under supervision of a nurse, and supports the patient’s care plan.

Eligible candidates may work full-time, part-time or PRN with Monday–Friday schedule. Benefits include health/dental/vision insurance, life insurance, and paid holidays, vacation, personal and sick time.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED with Basic Nurse Aide training certificate.
• Successful work experience in a health care setting preferred.
• Ability to read, write and understand simple instructions.

Responsibilities

• Provide personal care and comfort measures as directed by a nurse.
• Maintain patient environment and assist with activities of daily living.
• Record temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure and weight as assigned.
• Perform light housekeeping related to patient care.
• Maintain clinical records and communicate changes to supervising staff.
• Assist with following medical recommendations and care plans.

Position Summary:

Provides personal care, comfort measures, and environment services in the patient's home or home-like setting as directed by the professional nurse to achieve the stated goals and objectives of the care plan.

Salary Range:

$17.50-19.00

Responsibilities:

• Assists with or provides personal care duties as assigned by the nurse or appropriate personnel.
• Personal care duties include assistance in:
  • Bathing in bed, tub, or shower
  • Care of hair- shampooing
  • Shaving
  • Care of the teeth and mouth
  • Care of nails
  • Toileting- bed pan, commode, toilet, incontinent care
  • Dressing
  • Transferring
  • Walking
  • Simple range of motion exercises
  • Skin Care
• Asses and record temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure, and weight when assigned.
• Perform light housekeeping duties as it relates to the patient.
  • Making and changing a bed
  • Tidying bedroom and bathroom
• Maintains clinical records as directed.
• Reports any abnormal conditions to the professional Nurse or Home Services Assistant Director or
  Director
• Assists the patient in following medical recommendations under the guidance of the Nurse.
• Collaborates to implement the nursing and medical plan as directed:
  • Assistance with simple, non-sterile dressings such as Tegaderm or Duoderm
  • Measuring and recording intake and output
  • Using devices as instructed to aid in normal living activities
  • Teaching in self-care hygiene

Education and/or Experience

• High School diploma or general education degree (GED); successful completion of Basic Nurse Aide training program and certificate or written document. Successful work experience in a health care setting dealing with patients for at least one (1) year.

Language Skills

• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
• Ability to write simple correspondence.
• Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills

• Ability to add or subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s.
• Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

Reasoning Ability

• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
• Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

• Successful completion of Basic Nurse Aide training program with certificate/written documents.
• Current driver’s license.
• Current automobile insurance
• Finger print-based background check completed and approved.
• Must complete and provide documentation of 12 hours of continuing education annually.
• Must be CPR certified and maintain certification.
