Job summary

Valley Health System is seeking a CNA for the Pulmonary Care department in a hospital/rehabilitation setting. You will perform routine personal care for patients under RN/LPN supervision and help maintain a safe environment.

Responsibilities include reporting issues, supporting patient care goals, and potentially mentoring new CNAs as you gain experience. Certifications in BLS and state CNA registry are required.

Qualifications

• Must understand basic principles of human growth and development.
• Must be competent to interact with patients according to age and needs.
• Reliable means of communication with hospital.
• Annual flu vaccination required for Long-Term Care areas.

Job Description

• The CNA, under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse, performs routine personal care duties for patients.
• Maintains a safe environment and reports any problems.
• Supports the mission and vision of Winchester Rehabilitation Center and Winchester Medical Center.
• Once experienced, may act as a preceptor in the orientation of new CNA's.

Education

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.

Certification & Licensures

• Registry of the Board of Nursing as a Certified Nurse Aide required.
• Must be listed on the relevant Registry of the Board of Nursing as a Certified Nurse Aide in Virginia and/or West Virginia based on work location(s) within Valley Health.
• BLS Certification (Basic Life Support) - American Heart ‘Healthcare Provider’ (HCP) - AHA approved required.
• New hires must have American Heart Association (AHA) appropriate certification prior to completion of orientation.

Qualifications

• Must have a reliable means of phone communication with hospital.
• Will be required to obtain Valley Health provided annual flu vaccination if employed in Long-Term Care clinical areas.
