Job summary

Gundersen Health System in Spring Grove, MN is seeking a Certified Nursing Assistant to join theTweeten long-term care team. The role involves day shifts, weekend/holiday rotation, and direct patient care under RN supervision.

If you do not have CNA certification, the organization will fund training and start you as a Nursing Assistant with a competitive entry wage until certification is achieved.

Qualifications

• Minnesota Registered CNA requirement and ability to obtain CNA if not certified.
• Experience with basic patient care tasks and documentation.

Responsibilities

• Work day shifts including every other weekend and holiday
• Part-time = 16 hours bi-weekly
• Nurture a family-based care environment by learning about each person and serving their needs
• CNA performs basic care under RN supervision in acute hospital setting
• Transports and transfers patients safely within the medical complex and assists with data collection
• Work closely under the supervision of a licensed Nurse
• Must be physically able to lift heavy objects, push, pull, reach and squat regularly
• Accurately document in electronic medical records and use basic computer skills
• Assist with basic care for nutrition, elimination, comfort, mobility, and safety
• Ensure patient safety
• Participate in CNA and unit staff meetings
• Participate in quality improvement activities to improve patient care and unit operations
• Perform other job-related responsibilities as requested by the Director of Nursing
• Be flexible and adhere to regular and predictable attendance
• Transport and transfer patients with appropriate equipment and safety precautions
• Assist nursing staff in lifting and ambulating patients
• Maintain environment and equipment
• Demonstrate dependability and time management per unit guidelines
• Demonstrate alignment with Gundersen Health System mission and confidentiality standards

What you will do

• Work day shifts including every other weekend and holiday

• The CNA is responsible for performing basic care of patients under the general supervision of an RN in the acute hospital setting.
• The CNA is also responsible for transporting and transferring patients within the medical complex in a safe and efficient manner. The CNA will also assist with data collection to facilitate the delivery of delegated nursing care.

Primary Responsibilities

• Work closely under the supervision of a licensed Nurse
• Must be physically able to life heavy objects, as well as push, pull, reach and squat on a regular basis
• Accurately document on each resident in an electronic medical record and must be familiar and competent in basic computer use
• Assists with basic care for patients in the areas of nutrition, elimination, comfort, mobility, and safety
• Ensure patient safety
• Participates in CNA meetings and unit staff meetings
• Participates in quality improvement activities in order to continuously improve patient care and unit operations.
• Perform other job-related responsibilities as requested by the Director of Nursing.
• Must be flexible and adhere to regular and predictable attendance
• Transports and transfers patients within the medical complex using appropriate equipment and utilizing safety precautions as indicated by the patient’s health status.
• Assists nursing staff in lifting and ambulating patients using appropriate practice guidelines.
• Maintains environment and equipment
• Demonstrates dependability, organizational skills and effective use of time by setting priorities to complete delegated work within established time frames in accordance to unit guidelines.
• Demonstrates role accountability by adhering to Gundersen Health System Mission statement, policies and confidentiality standards

What you will need

• Minnesota Registered Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)
• If you do not have your CNA certification, we will pay for it and can start you as a Nursing Assistant!
• Current Infant-Adult Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers (with hands on learning) from one of the following programs: American Heart Association or American Red Cross
