Job summary

Pardee UNC Health Care is seeking a Clinical Nursing Assistant for the Progressive Care Unit. This full-time, onsite position supports patient care under RN supervision and requires 36 hours per week with a night schedule.

The role involves assisting with admissions, routine care, and discharge, plus vital signs, specimen collection, and daily living activities, ensuring a safe and compassionate environment for patients and families.

Qualifications

• Must have Nurse Aide I certification (NCBON).
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Responsibilities

• Assist physicians and other health care providers with routine examinations and procedures, and procurement of equipment during emergencies.
• Observe, collect, and document patient information and promptly report significant changes to a registered nurse or physician.
• Assist patients and families during admission, orientation, and discharge.
• Provide care including vital signs, height/weight, specimen collection, CHG bathing, catheter care, capillary glucose checks, and wound care.
• Assist with ADL, bathing, dressing, feeding and ambulation as outlined in the plan of care.
• Maintain a clean work area, manage supplies, and transport patients/specimens as needed.

Summary: The Clinical Nursing Assistant is responsible for coordinating and delivering patient care utilizing the nursing process under the direction of a Registered Nurse in a hospital setting.

Responsibilities:

• Assist physicians and other health care providers with routine examinations and procedures, as well as procurement of equipment and supplies during emergency situations.
• Observes, collects, and documents patient information obtained while providing care and promptly report significant changes in the patient's condition to a registered nurse or physician.
• Assists patients and their families during admission to the clinical area, orientation to the hospital/clinic/home health experience, and discharge.
• Provides care/ treatments to patients as outlined in plan of care including, but not limited to:
• Monitoring of vital signs
• Measurement of height and weight
• Specimen collection
• Skin preps/scrubs such as chlorohexidine (CHG) bathing
• Catheter care
• Capillary blood glucose checks
• Simple wound care
• Range-of-motion exercises
• Drain care
• Assist patients with routine activities of daily living (ADL) such as bathing, dressing, feeding and assisting with ambulation as outlined in plan of care
• Maintains an effective clinical work environment including but not limited to cleaning the work area, changing linens, maintaining and monitoring supply levels, and transporting patients / specimens throughout hospital.
• Ensures competency in all required skills and completes competency assessment annually per the documented competency checklist. Adheres to documented policies and processes as well as performing other related duties as assigned.
