Virginia Commonwealth University Health’s pediatric long-term care unit at CHoR Brook Road seeks a Certified Nursing Assistant to provide restorative care under licensed staff. The CNA will help with ADLs, monitor vitals, and support residents with physical and emotional needs in a 47-bed unit that serves children with complex conditions.

Applicants must have a VA-approved nurse aide program completion and current CNA certification; CPR/BLS within 60 days may be required.

Qualifications

  • Current Certified Nursing Assistant certification.
  • CPR or BLS certification within 60 days of employment may be required.
  • Experience providing activities of daily living, monitoring vital signs, and caring for physical and emotional needs of patients.
  • Previous work in a long-term care setting is preferred.
  • Education: completion of a nurse aide education program approved by Virginia Board of Nursing.

Responsibilities

  • Provide restorative nursing care under the direction of licensed staff.
  • Act as an extender to Nurses, Therapists, and other clinicians.
  • Perform nursing and rehab procedures within scope of competence.
  • Maintain safe and resident-friendly environment of care.
  • Report changes in patient condition to licensed staff and seek assistance as needed.
  • Participate in department and team projects and duties within CNA scope.

## Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) - Pediatric Long-Term Care - DaysApply: Richmond, VA: Children's Hospital of Richmond: Full time: Posted Yesterday: R45846The 47 bed Transitional Care Unit at CHoR Brook Road is VCU Health Care Systems pediatric long term care facility. The transitional care unit provides care to children with tracheotomies, G tubes, and ventilators. More than 30 children call our Transitional Care Unit home. While we are their nurses, therapists, dentists and specialists – we are also their teachers, recreation therapists, neighbors and friends. The Certified Nursing Assistant provides restorative nursing care for residents under the direction of the Nursing and/or Rehab staff to maximize and maintain the physical functioning and emotional wellness of the residents. The Certified Nursing Assistant acts as an extender to Nurses, Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapist and/or Speech Therapists, performing nursing and/or rehab procedures and resident care tasks within scope of competence and in compliance with hospital policies and procedures.Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for Hire: Current Certified Nursing Assistant certification Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for continued employment: Current Certified Nursing Assistant certification Depending on setting, current CPR or BLS certification within 60 days of employment Experience REQUIRED: Previous experience providing activities of daily living, monitoring vital signs and caring for the physical and emotional needs of patients Previous experience using a personnel computer, keyboard and mouse Experience PREFERRED: Previous work experience in a long-term care setting Education/training REQUIRED: Satisfactory completion of a nurse aide education program approved by the Virginia Board of Nursing. Education/training PREFERRED:High School Diploma or the equivalent. Independent action(s) required: Provides direct hands-on treatment under the guidance and supervision of licensed nursing and/or rehab staff and in compliance with hospital policy of unlicensed staff. Maintains a safe and resident friendly environment of care. Resident equipment and materials are kept in good repair. Maintains residents’ personal items and environment to optimize care and safety. Reports to licensed nurse and/or rehab therapists any changes in condition or concerns regarding residents and seeks assistance as needed. Participates in department and team projects as directed. Performs duties within scope of certified nursing assistant role. Supervisory responsibilities (if applicable): N/A Additional position requirements: Required to work all three shifts, weekends and holidays. Individual shift rotations and schedules will be determined by supervisor. Age Specific groups served: As appropriate based on unit assignment.
