Responsibilities

The primary responsibility of the CNA is to ensure residents receive care through tasks such as:

  • Assisting residents with bathing, toileting, oral hygiene, skin care, grooming, nail care, and dressing needs.
  • Feeding residents, providing bedside water, snacks, and transferring residents to and from dining areas as needed, in accordance with nutritional plans.
  • Responding promptly to resident call lights and requests for assistance according to facility policy.
  • Maintaining resident rooms by making beds, changing linens, cleaning bedside tables, and organizing belongings.
  • Observing and reporting any changes in residents' appetite, skin condition, or behavior.
  • Offering emotional support and actively listening to residents to help develop trust and independence.
  • Maintaining resident confidentiality and privacy at all times.
  • Documenting medical records, vitals, and assistance provided in accordance with facility policy.
  • Adhering to safety, infection control, and cleanliness standards.
Qualifications

Minimum qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED (or working under a student permit).
  • Certified by the Florida State Department of Health as a CNA in good standing.
  • Basic computer skills, including familiarity with programs like Excel and Word.

Understanding of safe, effective nursing practices within Florida is required. Interpersonal skills should include:

  • Assisting licensed nurses with procedures within the scope of practice.
  • Following written and verbal instructions, working independently, and making decisions when appropriate.
  • Dealing tactfully with residents, families, visitors, and staff.
  • Working harmoniously with team members.
  • Prioritizing tasks according to standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Protecting confidentiality and complying with HIPAA and corporate policies.
  • Patience, cheerfulness, enthusiasm, and maturity in handling residents.
  • Adherence to professional ethics and effective communication of residents' conditions.
  • Availability to work every other weekend.
