Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a Nurse Technician for the 36967 High Point Medical Center: Cardiac Care Unit – Nursing. The role is full-time, 40 hours per week, with a 7am-3pm schedule, Monday through Friday, in High Point, NC.

The ideal candidate provides patient care, supports licensed nurses, and assists with clerical tasks, while meeting NC Nurse Aide I and BLS requirements.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Completion of North Carolina State Approved Nurse Aide I course.
• BLS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care and maintain a safe environment.
• Relay messages, answer phones, and maintain records.
• Record vital signs, fluid intake/output, and patient data.
• Prepare and document patient meals and dietary needs.
• Assist with admissions, transfers, and discharges; support mobility.
• Maintain unit cleanliness and manage supplies and equipment.
• Respond to call lights promptly.
• Assist with record requests and patient mobility.

The Nurse Technician performs patient care, nursing tasks, and clerical duties – including acting as a unit receptionist and providing information to patients, families, visitors, and staff. The Nurse Tech also assists the Licensed Nurse as needed.

Key Responsibilities

• Patient Care: Provide direct patient care, maintain a safe environment, and assist with activities of daily living.
• Communication: Relay messages, answer phones, and maintain records.
• Patient Information & Documentation: Record vital signs, fluid intake/output, and patient data. Collect specimens.
• Patient Dietary Assistance: Prepare, assist, and document patient meals.
• Patient Transfer/Discharge: Assist with admissions, transfers, and discharges. Provide patient mobility support.
• Patient Environment: Maintain unit cleanliness, manage supplies and equipment, and inspect patient charts.
• Patient Records: Update, assemble, and maintain patient charts. Assist with record requests.
• Call Lights: Respond to call lights promptly.
• Phone Etiquette: Answer phones professionally and direct physician calls to nurses.
• Customer Focus: Provide excellent customer service, greet visitors, and assist with patient needs.
• Supplies & Equipment: Assess unit supply needs, maintain inventory, and deliver requisitions and specimens.
• Teamwork & Support: Assist with patient care procedures, orientation, and unit coordination.
• Meetings & Updates: Attend unit meetings and continuing education programs.
• Professionalism: Maintain a professional demeanor and adhere to department rules and standards.
• Other Duties: Perform assigned tasks as directed by management.
