Job summary

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with activities of daily living including hygiene, feeding, ambulation, and positioning.
• Record vital signs and collect specimens; communicate changes to licensed staff.
• Support care procedures such as incentive spirometry and oxygen therapy as directed.
• Prepare rooms, assist with admissions and discharges, and perform routine clerical duties.
• Maintain and clean medical equipment and assist in emergency situations under nurse supervision.
• Perform range of motion exercises and skin care to prevent pressure injuries.

Job Summary

The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) provides direct patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse, assisting with daily living activities and supporting the efficient operation of healthcare services. The CNA plays a crucial role in patient comfort, safety, and communication within the care team in a long-term care (LTC) environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with routine activities of daily living including hygiene, feeding, ambulation, and positioning.
• Perform range of motion exercises and skin care to maintain patient mobility and prevent pressure injuries.
• Collect patient data and specimens such as urine, stool, and sputum; record vital signs and pain assessments.
• Communicate changes in patient condition to licensed nursing staff promptly.
• Support patient care procedures including incentive spirometry, oxygen therapy setup, and suctioning as directed.
• Prepare rooms, assist with admissions and discharges, and provide post-mortem care as needed.
• Maintain and clean medical equipment and assist in emergency situations under nurse supervision.
• Perform clerical duties such as answering unit phones, data entry, and coordinating equipment/supply needs.

Required Skills & Certifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Valid Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license.
• AHA BLS Provider CPR certification at hire.

Preferred Skills & Certifications

• Experience working in long-term care or similar healthcare settings.
• Familiarity with electronic medical record systems.
