Job summary

Majestic Care of Terre Haute is seeking a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) to deliver direct hands-on nursing care to residents on a daily basis. You will assist professional staff to help residents achieve the highest possible level of functioning and independence.

You will respond to call lights, help with ADLs, assist in admissions/transfers/discharges, and ensure safety, hydration, and nutrition while maintaining respect for privacy.

Qualifications

• Certified and state tested as a CNA in the state employed; certificate must be active, valid, and in good standing.

Responsibilities

• Perform or assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADL).
• Respond to residents' call lights to provide maximum comfort, safety and privacy.
• Transport residents by ambulation or wheelchair to dining, lobby, or activities.
• Report significant findings to a nurse immediately.
• Assist residents on admission, transfer and discharge for smooth transitions.
• Safekeep residents' personal possessions and keep rooms neat and safe.
• Follow proper infection control techniques and respect residents' privacy.

Position Overview:

The CNA is a member of the community nursing team whose responsibility is to assist professional nursing personnel by delivering direct hands-on nursing care to ambulatory and non-ambulatory residents on a daily basis. The CNA is also responsible for assisting the residents to achieve the highest level of functioning while living as normal a lifestyle as possible.

Key Responsibilities:

• To perform or assist the resident with completing Activities of Daily Living (ADL).
• Respond to residents call lights to provide maximum comfort, safety and privacy.
• Transport residents by ambulation or by wheelchair to areas of community (dining room, lobby and activities).
• Report any significant findings/observations to nurse immediately.
• Assist residents on admission, transfer and discharge to make a smooth transition.
• Responsible for the safekeeping of residents' personal possessions.
• Keep resident rooms neat and safe.
• Follow proper infection control techniques
• Respect the rights of each resident, particularly privacy and confidentiality.
• Re-teach resident to perform ADL skills.
• Provide restorative care to prevent pressure sores, contractures, and complications.
• Participate in Continuous Quality Improvement and ensures follow-up occurs.
• Converse with resident and family; assist them on adjustment to the community.
• Ensure adequate hydration and nutrition of resident; report deviations from norm to the Charge Nurse promptly.
• Perform blood pressure, pulse, respirations, intake/output and weights accurately.
