Job summary

Majestic Care of New Haven is seeking a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) to join our care team and deliver direct hands-on nursing care to residents daily, assisting with ADLs and patient comfort.

You will work evenings, nights, and some days according to schedule, maintain safety and infection control, report findings to nurses, and participate in continuous quality improvement while providing compassionate support.

Qualifications

• Active CNA certification in the state employed.
• Certificate must be active, valid, and in good standing.

Responsibilities

• Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADL) and daily care.
• Respond to call lights to provide comfort, safety, and privacy.
• Transport residents to dining, lounge, and activity areas as needed.
• Report significant findings to the nurse promptly.
• Assist with admission, transfer, and discharge processes.
• Maintain safety and cleanliness of resident rooms; follow infection control techniques.

Position Overview:

The CNA is a member of the community nursing team whose responsibility is to assist professional nursing personnel by delivering direct hands-on nursing care to ambulatory and non-ambulatory residents on a daily basis. The CNA is also responsible for assisting the residents to achieve the highest level of functioning while living as normal a lifestyle as possible.

Key Responsibilities:

• To perform or assist the resident with completing Activities of Daily Living (ADL).
• Respond to residents call lights to provide maximum comfort, safety and privacy.
• Transport residents by ambulation or by wheelchair to areas of community (dining room, lobby and activities).
• Report any significant findings/observations to nurse immediately.
• Assist residents on admission, transfer and discharge to make a smooth transition.
• Responsible for the safekeeping of residents’ personal possessions.
• Keep resident rooms neat and safe.
• Follow proper infection control techniques
• Respect the rights of each resident, particularly privacy and confidentiality.
• Re-teach resident to perform ADL skills.
• Provide restorative care to prevent pressure sores, contractures, and complications.
• Participate in Continuous Quality Improvement and ensures follow-up occurs.
• Converse with resident and family; assist them on adjustment to the community.
• Ensure adequate hydration and nutrition of resident; report deviations from norm to the Charge Nurse promptly.
• Perform blood pressure, pulse, respirations, intake/output and weights accurately.

Qualifications:

• Certified and state tested as a Certified Nursing Assistant in the state employed; certificate must be active, valid, and in good standing.
