Job summary

Christus Health in Santa Fe, NM is seeking a dedicated Certified Nursing Assistant to support routine patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse. You will assist with admissions and discharges on the unit, prepare rooms, transport patients as needed, and help maintain a safe, comfortable environment for patients and families.

The position requires a CNA license in the state of employment and a current BLS certification; a high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assists with admissions, transfers, and discharges.
• Completes pertinent documents.
• Prepares rooms for admission by setting up IV pots and adjusting bed level.
• Ensures patient belongings accompany the patient to the unit or home at discharge.
• Safely transports stable patients as required.
• Maintains security/confidentiality when transporting patients and interacting with family and visitors.
• Cleans, procures and returns equipment and supplies.
• Run errands for the unit as required.
• Assist licensed personnel in creating a safe environment; replenish patient room with water, linen, and towels.
• Perform unit-specific patient care tasks per skills checklist and flowsheet.
• Identify changes in patient condition and report promptly to the nurse in charge.
• Assist with ordering and maintaining stock items as needed.
• Keep unit supplies organized.
• Respond to emergencies appropriately.
• Communicate effectively with team members during and between shifts.
• Respond to phone calls and patient call lights.
• Adapt care to the patient’s unique needs and development.
• Demonstrates competence to perform assigned patient care responsibilities.

Summary

Under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse/licensed Nurse, this Job will assist with routine and repetitive patient care activities in a nursing unit. This Job also performs specific clerical, organizational, and patient-focused activities. The patient-focused tasks will be supportive in nature.

Job Requirements

Education/Skills

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.

Experience

• Patient care experience in an acute care setting is preferred.

Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications

• CNA License in state of employment required.
• BLS required.
