Job summary

Mille Lacs Health System in Minnesota is seeking a Nursing Assistant to support the professional nursing staff in delivering compassionate patient care. You will assist with hygiene, nutrition, mobility, and routine treatments under supervision.

You will document vital signs and care in the Electronic Medical Record, uphold infection control and patient rights, and help maintain a safe, respectful environment for patients and staff during day/evening shifts that include weekends and holidays.

Qualifications

• Must be registered with the MN Board of Nursing as a Nursing Assistant.
• Attention to detail, organization, and prioritization skills.
• Computer skills and ability to document EHR.

Responsibilities

• Assist with patient hygiene, nutrition, activity and treatments per MLHS policies.
• Observe patients and report changes to the Team Leader.
• Document patient cares in the EMR (vital signs, intake/output, meals, ADLs).
• Maintain a safe, clean environment adhering to infection control policies.
• Uphold the Patient's Bill of Rights and patient privacy.
• Use proper lifting techniques and PPE as required.
• Report accidents or safety hazards promptly.
• Keep patient rooms, kitchenette, and hallways neat and orderly.

Job description

Summary

This position is responsible for assisting the professional nurse in the delivery of patient care. Under the direction of the professional nursing staff the NAR provides personal care for assigned patients and is an integral part of the patient care team.

Job Duties

• Assists with the needs and comfort of patients including hygiene, nutrition, activity and treatments in accordance with the policies and procedures of Mille Lacs Health System.
• Observes patients and communicates changes and/or needs to the Team Leader.
• Documents patient cares in the Electronic Medical Record. Cares include, but not limited to; vital signs, intake/output, meals, and activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, eating, toileting, transferring, continence).
• Maintains a safe, clean environment for patients and staff by following infection control and safety policies and procedures.
• Supports and upholds the Patient's Bill of Rights.
• Performs all duties as assigned.
• Always uses appropriate lifting techniques when lifting/moving patients/equipment.
• Uses Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) that is appropriate for the given task.
• Reports accidents or incidents and safety hazards promptly.
• Cleans equipment, spills, etc. as necessary.
• Always uses appropriate equipment (i.e. transfer belts, Hoyer) when moving patients.
• Ensures patient privacy by knocking, pulling privacy curtains & draping patient.
• Ensures the dignity of the patient by consistently using respectful language.
• Keeps patient rooms neat, clean, and orderly without prompting. Keeps kitchenette neat, clean, and stocked without prompting. Keeps hallways clear of food carts, equipment, etc.
