Job summary

The University of Miami Hospital & Clinics is seeking a Certified Nursing Assistant to join the Nursing 8 North Cardiac / Telemetry UTower unit in Miami. This full-time position covers 3 x 12-hour shifts including days, nights, weekends, and on calls.

Responsibilities include assisting with hygiene, meals, mobility, vitals, specimen collection and responding to calls, while maintaining safety and following unit policies. Minimum 5 years' experience and a valid CNA license required.

Responsibilities

• Assists with personal hygiene and basic patient care.
• Assists with meals, feeds patients, ambulates, turns and positions patients.
• Administers enemas, douches, dressings, preps, ice packs and sitz baths.
• Performs urine testing, specimen collection and post-mortem care.
• Answers patient call lights and requests promptly.
• Maintains a safe, attractive environment and transports patients/equipment.
• Reports patient condition to the assigned nurse for assessment.
• Measures and records intake/output and vitals.
• Assists with walking, exercising and moving in/out of bed.
• Adheres to University and unit policies and protects assets.

• Assistswith meals and feeds patients,ambulates, turns, and positions patients,andprovides fresh water and nourishment between meals.
• Administers enemas, douches, non-sterile dressings, surgical preps, ice packs, heat treatments, therapeuticand sitzbaths, and applies restraints.
• Performs sugar and acetone urine testing, specimen collection, and post-mortem care.
• Answers patients’ call lights and requests promptly.
• Maintains a safe and attractive environment for patients and staff, and transports patientsand equipment.
• Reportspatientconditionsto theassigned nurseto ensure professional assessment.
• Measures and recordsfood and liquid intake and outputandchecks and recordsvital signs.
• Provides patienthelpwithwalking, exercising,and moving in and out of bed.
• Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

COREQUALIFICATIONS

Education:

High school diploma orequivalent

Certification and Licensing:

Certified Nursing Assistant license

Experience:

Minimum 5 years of relevant experience
