Job summary

Parkside Psychiatric Hospital & Clinic is hiring a Certified Nursing Assistant to provide compassionate care for pediatric and adolescent patients in a psychiatric setting. You will assist with daily living activities, promote independence, and support developmentally appropriate self-care while maintaining patient dignity and safety.

Responsibilities include hygiene support, accurate documentation, infection control, and collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

• Oklahoma CNA certification in good standing.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• CPR/First Aid certification.
• Ability to pass criminal background checks and state screenings.
• Ability to work effectively with children and adolescents with psychiatric, emotional, or behavioral challenges.

Responsibilities

• Assist with ADLs including bathing, grooming, dressing, and toileting.
• Provide hygiene and daily living support while preserving dignity.
• Document care provided and report changes to nursing staff.
• Follow infection control practices and maintain a safe, therapeutic environment.
• Participate in team meetings and trainings.
• Respond appropriately to behavioral health crises per facility policies.

The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) provides compassionate, hands-on care to pediatric and adolescent patients in a psychiatric hospital setting. The CNA assists and coaches’ patients with activities of daily living (ADLs), including hygiene, grooming, dressing, and toileting, while promoting independence, dignity, safety, and self-care skills. Support is tailored to each patient’s developmental level, ability to complete skills independently, sensory needs, and behavioral or emotional concerns.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Certified Nursing AssistantProvide hygiene and daily living assistance to patients, including:Bathing or showeringOral hygiene and teeth brushingHair care, grooming, and combing hairDressing and changing clothingHandwashing and other general personal hygieneSorting clean and dirty clothing as neededToileting and incontinence care as neededProvide verbal instructions and encouragement to increase independence with age-appropriate hygiene and self-care tasksProvide supervision and guidance during hygiene routines while maintaining patient dignity and privacyMonitor patient hygiene needs and ADLs, communicate care provided to nursing staff, document accurately, and observe and report changes in behavior, mood, or physical conditionAssist staff in maintaining clean, organized patient living areas, bedrooms, and hygiene supply areas while promoting a safe, therapeutic environmentUtilize trauma-informed, developmentally appropriate approaches while maintaining professional boundaries and therapeutic interactions with patients and families.Participate in team meetings, staff trainings, and quality improvement initiatives as assignedRespond appropriately during behavioral health crisis in accordance with facility policies, procedures, and trainingFollow infection control practices and universal precautions at all times.Other duties as assignedOklahoma Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification in good standing.High School Diploma or GED.CPR/First Aid Certification.Pass criminal background checks and any other required state screenings.Ability to work effectively with children and adolescents experiencing psychiatric, emotional, or behavioral challenges.
