Position Summary

The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) is responsible for providing direct, hands‑on support to residents with their daily personal care needs, ensuring comfort, dignity, and overall well‑being. This role assists residents with activities of daily living, including grooming, hygiene, nutrition, mobility, and social engagement, while also monitoring and reporting changes in condition to the care team. CNAs promote a safe, clean, and supportive environment by assisting with meals, housekeeping, and resident activities, and by fostering effective communication with residents, families, and staff. Through compassionate care and teamwork, the CNA helps residents maintain the highest possible level of independence, health, and quality of life.

Essential Functions
  • Assist and provide direction to residents regarding their personal care needs, including grooming, hygiene, dressing, nutrition, etc.
  • Respond to signal lights, bells, or intercom systems to determine residents' needs proactively.
  • Record vital signs such as temperature, blood pressure, pulse, respiration rates and track food and fluid intake and output as directed.
  • Transport residents or assist with walking, turning, or repositioning, alone or with assistance.
  • Change bed linens, run errands, direct visitors, and answer telephone calls.
  • Assist with laundry and housekeeping duties.
  • Escort residents to and from the dining room and assist with meals.
  • Encourage and assist residents to participate in activities.
  • Listen to and understand residents' problems and report observations immediately to the care team as needed.
  • Promote the physical, personal, and emotional well‑being of each resident, striving to return the resident to their maximum level of self‑care and independence when possible.
  • Understand residents’ Advance Directives and follow their wishes.
  • Ensure effective communication by community staff with residents’ families regarding care, encompassing physical, personal, and emotional wellbeing.
  • Work well with others, take direction from management, and engage in conflict intervention and resolution for residents, families, employees, and others as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Completion of an accredited CNA program required.
  • One year of experience as a certified nursing assistant preferred.
  • CPR or BLS certification preferred.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in common digital tools and applications, including Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Excel, Word), web‑based platforms, electronic health record systems, and any HR‑related systems as applicable.
Working Conditions
  • This position may require walking or standing for extended periods and moving throughout the community, resident apartments, and other areas.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee may occasionally be required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, as well as climb or balance.
  • The employee must communicate effectively and interpret written information.
  • This position may require lifting up to fifty (50) pounds independently, and up to 200 pounds with assistance.
  • Individuals in this position are required to follow all infection prevention and control protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) when necessary.
  • The role involves participating in all staff activities aimed at fostering teamwork, unity, and morale, contributing as a collaborative team player.
  • Individuals in this position are required to stay current on all training and ongoing education initiatives, pursuing self‑improvement and continuous learning opportunities.
