Deercreekseniorliving is looking for a dedicated Home Health Aide (HHA) in Early, Texas. In this role, you will provide essential personal care services to patients, ensuring their comfort and well-being. The ideal candidate has completed a state-approved training program and must be empathetic towards patients' needs. This is a vital role within our home care team, working under the supervision of a registered nurse.

Job description

Home Health Aide (HHA)

The Home Health Aide is a paraprofessional member of the home care team who works under the supervision of a registered nurse or therapist. The HHA observes patients, documents care, and performs personal care services necessary to meet the patient’s needs.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Provide personal care, including baths, back rubs, oral hygiene, shampoos, changing bed linen.
  • Assist patients with dressing and undressing.
  • Nail and skin care to prevent breakdown.
  • Assist with toileting activities.
  • Keep patient’s living area clean and orderly.
  • Plan and prepare nutritious meals and assist with feeding when necessary.
  • Take and record oral, rectal, and axillary temperatures, pulse, respiration, and blood pressure when ordered (with demonstrated competency).
  • Assist in ambulation, exercise, range‑of‑motion, and other simple therapeutic procedures as ordered.
  • Assist patient in self‑administration of medication.
  • Do patient’s laundry as appropriate.
  • Meet safety needs and use equipment safely (e.g., foot stools, side rails).
  • Report patient’s condition and significant changes to the assigned nurse.
  • Adhere to the organization’s documentation, care procedures, and standards of personal and professional conduct.
  • Attend 12 clock hours of in‑service training annually and scheduled case conference meetings with the interdisciplinary group.
Qualifications
  • Successfully completed a state‑approved training and competency evaluation program; program must be in good standing in the state nurse registry.
  • Minimum age of 18 years.
  • Ability to read and follow written instructions and document care provided.
  • Self‑directing with ability to work with little direct supervision.
  • Empathy for the needs of the ill, injured, frail, and impaired.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Demonstrates tact, patience, and good personal hygiene.
  • Licensed driver with automobile insured according to organization requirements and in good working order.
  • Home health aide will not perform nursing practice or administer medications, take physician orders, or perform sterile techniques in violation of the State’s Nurse Practice Act.
