Job summary

Billings Clinic is seeking a Certified Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant for cardiovascular surgery in Billings, MT. The role supports the hospital's tertiary referral center with a focus on patient care and diagnostics under physician supervision.

Under supervision, you will perform physical exams, order tests, deliver therapeutic procedures, and develop care plans, contributing to a Magnet-recognized facility with competitive compensation and benefits.

Qualifications

• Graduate of PA or NP program with related clinical training.
• Active state licensure and national certification for PA or NP.
• Ability to practice under physician supervision in cardiovascular surgery.

Responsibilities

• Examines patients and performs comprehensive physical examinations.
• Administers or orders diagnostic tests and interprets results with supervision as needed.
• Performs therapeutic procedures (injections, wound care, suturing) within licensure.
• Develops and monitors patient care plans and documents progress with the supervising physician.
• Coordinates care and ensures continuity of treatment with the cardiovascular surgery team.

Under clinical supervision of a physician and direct supervision of the Manager/Director, the Physician Assistant provides general medical care, treatment and health care services to patients within the scope of their licensure and expertise level of the supervising physician.

Essential Job Functions

• Supports and models behaviors consistent with the mission and philosophy of Billings Clinic and department/service.
• Examines patients and performs comprehensive physical examination, compiles patient medical data including health history and results of physical examination.
• Administers or orders diagnostic tests, such as x-ray, laboratory, and other ancillary services as appropriate and differentiates between normal and abnormal information contained in the test results. (Patient Care, Testing Diagnostic Tests)

• Graduate of an accredited physician assistant program
• Current National Commission on Certification of Physicians Assistants (NCCPA) Board Certification/License as Physician Assistant
• Approved to practice as a physician assistant in Montana or Wyoming by Board of Medical Examiners

Education for Nurse Practitioners

• Graduate of an accredited nurse practitioner program
• Current Board Certification as a Nurse Practitioner
• Approved to practice as a Nurse Practitioner with a current Montana and/or Wyoming Board of Nursing
• License as an advance practice nurse
• Current Montana and/or Wyoming license as a Registered Nurse as appropriate to service area
